As Pride Month shines a light on LGBTQ+ resilience, SaySo is reflecting on our organization’s responsibility to youth in foster care. Our team is dedicated to creating safe, inclusive spaces where every young person can thrive. We welcome feedback from youth to continuously improve our programs. If you’re connected to foster care or LGBTQ+ support networks, let’s connect to explore collaboration.

BE WHO YOU ARE! Unapologetically! We love you & accept YOU as such💜

SaySo grateful to have seats at the table with 75 key partners in the Bipartisan Policy Center’s (BPC) child welfare financing and accountability workgroup, as we discussed federal finance reform recommendations. Thank you Annie E. Casey Foundation for hosting a thoughtful, informative forum in Baltimore, MD where the BPC presented their recommendations and we stakeholders offered feedback.

Such a great opportunity to
learn about the proposals and their potential impact.

Learn why these recommendations are relevant in today’s policy landscape
contribute insights from lived experience and frontline practice.

The lived experts brought tremendous richness to the conversation, grounding the discussion in real-world impact and next steps. I’m inspired by the collaborative spirit and the collective commitment to improving outcomes for children, families, and communities.

So many takeaways we will more than likely do a follow-up post!

Grateful for the opportunity to attend the D.C. Foster Youth Housing Summit hosted by Good Rivers Partners in collaboration with Think of Us. This gathering brought together visionary leaders, advocates, and passionate changemakers. Great to see Matt Anderson and Sixto Cancel.

The summit highlighted collaborative models—public-private partnerships, community-based organizations, and philanthropic support—that unlock scalable solutions. From policy considerations to on-the-ground programs, we explored actionable steps to expand access to housing, stabilization services, and targeted mentorship for youth aging out of care.

A big thank you to the organizers, speakers, and fellow attendees for the energy, honesty, and commitment to impact that create real, lasting change for youth in foster care. Daniel Heimpel you are awesome 🌟

SaySo was privileged to join the FFTA-For the Good of Families Public Policy Institute in Washington, DC—an annual gathering that blends advocacy with education to drive real outcomes for youth in foster care and adoption. Special thanks to Treva Johnson Rashel Lauret Erica Burgess Gaile Osborne for making this possible for us!

We were honored to kick off a round table discussion amongst a panel of lived-experience experts on four critical policy areas, two were SaySo alumniMya Monk Amiya Dowd:
Foster care & adoption services**: strengthening supports and pathways to permanence.
Support services for youth in care and exiting care**: ensuring a smooth transition to independence with robust guidance and resources.
Basic needs & economic support**: securing reliable access to housing, employment readiness, and financial stability.
Provider stability and workforce**: investing in the people who deliver care, so the system can sustain quality, trauma-informed support.

While in DC, we carried out direct advocacy meetings on Capitol Hill with senators' and representatives' aides, advocating for policies that reflect the realities faced by youth and families. We also had the opportunity to tour the White House, deepening our understanding of the federal landscape and how we can move policy from visions to action. Thank you Youth Villages for extending the opportunity. Shaquita Ogletree 🌟🌟

Grateful for the collaboration Christopher Patterson Ruth White , learning, and the commitment of everyone who showed up to champion a future where every young person has the support they need to thrive. On to turning these insights into impactful, on-the-ground change. We are so excited to wear our SaySo blazers 😆
