Yesterday, July 23, 2026, the Burney-Clay Township Volunteer Fire Department proudly received five brand‑new full sets of bunker gear for our firefighters. This equipment is essential in helping our men and women stay safe, protected, and ready for any situation we may face.

A huge thank‑you to Dinges Fire Company for helping us make this happen. Your support means a lot to our department and to the community we serve.

The ATVFD is hosting a landing zone training at our new station on July 26th at 4pm. The ATVFD invites any first responders (police, fire, EMS) that are interested in attending to come out and join us, there is no cost or registration required. Hope to see you there!

Northern Bartholomew County in central Indiana...

* Until 900 PM EDT.

* At 814 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Columbus, moving east at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* Locations impacted include...
Columbus, Hope, Hartsville, Clifford, Newbern, and Taylorsville.

This includes Interstate 65 between mile markers 69 and 77.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a

of Brownstown, or 10 miles west of Seymour, moving east at 45 mph.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

Northern Jennings County in southeastern Indiana...

* WHEN...Until 230 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1146 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Up to 3 inches of rain have
fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Columbus, Greensburg, North Vernon, Adams, Edinburgh, Hope,
Flat Rock, Milford, Westport, Princes Lakes, Geneva,

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Cluster of severe storms over Illinois will move into western and central portions of Indiana through 10 PM. There is an increasing tornado threat along and 30 miles either side of I-70. Elsewhere, all types of severe hazards are possible, including damaging winds to 80 mph, hail to 2 inches in diameter and isolated tornadoes. Now is a good time to review your safety plan and ways to get warnings.

There is going to be a garden tractor pull tonight at the Burney Clay Township Volunteer Fire Dept at 6:30pm.
There will be food being served at the track! We will be serving pork burgers, hotdogs, chips and then you will be able to quench your thirst with an ice cold soda or water! Everything will be a free will donation! We look forward to seeing you all there!
