Have you ever thought about volunteering to be a Meals on Wheels delivery driver? It’s a great way to serve your community and doesn’t take much time. Kiowa County Senior Center is looking for a person to fill in on Fridays temporarily til our regular driver is back to driving. This would be Greensburg delivery only, delivering lunch. It would be a great opportunity to see if this is something you’d like to do on a more regular basis. If you’re interested, contact Kim at the Senior Center!

Across Kendall County, Meals on Wheels also served 8,713 “cafe meals” in fun social settings to older adults in places like the Beecher Center in Yorkville and the Oswegoland Senior and Community Center.

Tuesday was a CRAZY day, so I only got 1 picture, (before the craziness began) but it was such a fun day! Great music by Randy and Frank, some St. Patrick’s Day trivia, an absolutely delicious meal prepared and served by our AWESOME kitchen staff, and just a super time of friendship and fellowship! We served 65 meals, with 50+ in person at the Center! Thanks to everyone who came and made it such a special day! And thank you so much to our friends at Invenergy for generously sponsoring the meal! Great community partners like Invenergy help make these special days possible! If your business or organization has interest in sponsoring events like this at the Senior Center, give us a call!

Busy day at the Senior Center! We started with the coffee crew, followed by lunch with a presentation by KCMH Senior Solutions ladies (neither of which I managed to get a picture of🤦‍♀️). We followed that up with a CROWD for Hand & Foot, with Bridge Club mixed in. Then we all cheered on the Mavericks as they headed off to the quarterfinal game in Dodge City!
The Senior Center is popping with great activities MOST days! Stop in for a visit! You don’t know what you’re missing!

Do you have a March Birthday? Please join us for Birthdays, Burgers and Bingo at the Center on Friday March 13th at 11:30! We will celebrate all our March birthdays with freshly grilled burgers, sides, and birthday cake. Then after lunch we’ll play some bingo! If you’d like to join in the fun, please call the Center by 9 AM Friday to reserve your lunch. Cost of the meal is $3.50 suggested donation for persons 60 and older who complete a simple nutritional survey and $7.50 mandatory contribution per person for anyone under 60 or anyone 60+ who has not completed the survey. Great lunch! Great price! Great fun!

Wednesday, March 11th is our next scheduled Intergenerational Group Connection! This program brings together seniors with parents and children, age birth to 3, for fun activities, stories, music and fun! If you’d like to be a part of this, all you need to do is come to the Center. Parents As Teachers is the sponsor and they provide activities. If you have a favorite children’s book you’d like to share with the kids, bring it along! See you Wednesday!
