Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department

Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department We at the MTVFD take great pride in providing fire protection and first response here in Southern Decatur County. Thanks to all of our supporters!

We operate a small department that relies on community support and donations. The dept was incorporated in 1953 from the town department to Marion Township VFD. That was when the old station was built and bought the 1953 GMC pumper. The summer of 2004 the current station was built and we moved in Dec 04.

Tonight, the MTVFD came together to recognize two great local servants. It was our pleasure to host Indiana Fire Marshal Stephen Jones and representatives from the IVFA for a special award ceremony.

MTVFD member Ronald Fry as well as Greensburg Fire/Clarksburg Fire member Rick Emsweller were awarded their 50 Year Gold Cards celebrating 50 years of dedicated service to their communities.

We are often asked, what all does the volunteer fire service do in the community.

Here is a perfect example of Chief Stone leading the 7th Grade class of St. Mary's School in CPR and First-Aid skills.

Your local volunteer fire service and the service provided by such is dependent on the continued interest from our youth. We at MTVFD take this task seriously as we are constantly looking for ways to interact with our local youth.

If we get but one young mind interested, it’s all worth it.

We thank St Mary’s for entrusting the time and education of your student body in the hands of Chief Stone.

A huge THANK YOU goes to Matt Stone of the Shelbyville Fire Department and the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department. He's here this morning training our 7th graders in CPR and the use of an AED machine. This is an annual training through their Elective class, and we are so grateful that Matt is always willing to come and share his time and knowledge with our students.
