Green County Schools Names Carrie Ruth Davis as First Chief of Police
Green County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Carrie Ruth Davis as the first Chief of Police for the newly established Green County Schools Police Department.
The Green County Board of Education recently approved the creation of the Green County Schools Police Department as part of the district’s ongoing commitment to providing a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for students and staff. The new department will provide dedicated law enforcement services focused exclusively on the safety of Green County Schools campuses, programs, and events.
The establishment of the department represents a significant investment by the Green County Board of Education in school safety and student success. The department reflects the district's belief that safe schools are essential to student achievement, strong communities, and a positive educational experience for every child. By creating its own police department, Green County Schools will provide a consistent and visible law enforcement presence on district campuses and at school activities while increasing the overall public safety resources available throughout the Green County community. The department will work collaboratively alongside local, county, and state public safety agencies to support a shared commitment to protecting and serving the citizens of Green County.
Chief Davis has been selected to lead the department through its formation and development, helping establish policies, procedures, training standards, and a positive culture centered on student safety, community engagement, professionalism, and service. As the department's founding chief, she will play a key role in shaping the future of school safety for generations of Green County students.
A Green County native and proud graduate of Green County High School, Davis has dedicated her career to protecting and serving the community she calls home. Since 2023, she has served as both a Deputy Sheriff with the Green County Sheriff’s Office and as Green County Schools’ first full-time School Resource Officer. In that role, she has worked closely with students, staff, families, and community partners to enhance school safety, build positive relationships, and create a secure learning environment throughout the district.
Prior to joining Green County Schools, Davis served with the Greensburg Police Department from 2017 to 2023, where she advanced to the rank of Corporal. Throughout her law enforcement career, she has earned a reputation for professionalism, integrity, leadership, and community-oriented policing while serving the citizens of Green County.
Davis graduated from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training in 2018 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Police Studies with a minor in Homeland Security from Eastern Kentucky University.
Her professional credentials include Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) I and II certifications, School Resource Officer (SRO) I and II certifications, Leadership is a Behavior certification, POPS certification, and CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications. She is also scheduled to complete SRO III certification in July 2026 as she continues to expand her expertise in school-based law enforcement and student safety.

As both the district’s first full-time School Resource Officer and now its first Chief of Police, Davis will play a historic role in shaping the future of school safety in Green County.
