Hunt County Sheriff’s Office hosted the 2026 Peace Officer’s Memorial Today. We’d like to give special thanks to Greenville PD Honor Guard, Benson Bros Wrecker Service, Brittany from Coker-Matthews Funeral Home, and all of our families and friends that attended. We’d also like to thank Deputy Brown for putting everything together. As the years pass, we will not forget those that have given their lives in the line of duty to protect our communities from evil.

Before every deputy gets to wear the badge, they go through a very thorough selection process. That process culminates in this chair - a board interview. A chance to prove that they have what it takes to serve the citizens of Hunt County. In the past twelve months, thirteen new deputies have sat in this chair and been selected. We are stronger, training harder than ever, and ready to serve.

‼️SCAM ALERT-Impersonating Law Enforcement‼️

There is an ongoing scam in our community where an individual posing as a Sheriff’s Deputy or Investigator is attempting to extort money from citizens.

The scammer typically calls from a blocked or false number, pretending to be from the Sheriff’s Office. They falsely claim you have warrants due to missed court or jury duty and demand immediate payment to avoid arrest. To appear more convincing, they might say the call is being recorded. These scammers have been using actual names of Sheriff’s Deputies.

Law enforcement will NEVER ask for payment over the phone or to resolve warrants. They will NEVER request gift cards, money transfers, or cryptocurrency. Scammers use fear and urgency to pressure victims.

If you are in doubt, please contact the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office directly at 903-453-6800.
