Over the years, Sergeant Fischer has been a reliable and professional presence within the department and someone his coworkers could always count on.

Thank you for your service to GPD and the Greenville community. Congratulations on your retirement, Sergeant Fischer. We wish you all the best in the years ahead!

🩵🐶Healing hearts and Saving lives!🐶🩵

We are so thankful for our Animal Protective Services officers and the work they do in our community, and this morning is a prime example of why.

Early this morning, Officer Ormond responded to a stray dog behind a business on West Arlington Boulevard. Officer Ormond was able to find the dog in a ditch, but the dog was deaf, partially blind, nearly hypothermic due to water in the ditch, and was in dire need of medical attention. With assistance from Officer Landry, the dog was safely removed from the ditch and was taken to a vet for medical attention.

When the officers contacted the dog's owners, they found out that the owners had been desperately searching for their missing 15-year-old dog, Lucy, who they had last seen on April 27th. But thanks to the efforts of Officer Ormond and Officer Landry, Lucy was reunited with her owners and is expected to recover.

We are so thankful to have APS officers that have such immense compassion and care for the well-being of the four-legged members of our community!
