The City of Greenville today welcomed representatives from Flock Safety for a comprehensive visit focused on training, technology, and public safety operations.

The visit included a high-level administrative review and meeting with Greenville Police Department Chief Marcus Turner, Major Misty Mew, and Flock representatives, followed by a GPD training session and ride-along. Flock representatives also conducted a device health check and provided an overview of new tools and technologies designed to support our officers in the field.

The visit concluded with a briefing for Mayor Errick D. Simmons highlighting the effectiveness of the City’s Flock partnership and its role in supporting crime reduction efforts throughout Greenville.

Mayor Simmons stated, “We appreciate Flock Safety for its continued innovation and support of the men and women of the Greenville Police Department as they work to keep our community safe.

And as always, if you see something, say something. Community safety is a shared responsibility, and your vigilance can make a difference.”👮🏾‍♂️🤝🏾🏙️

Thank you to Congressman Bennie G. Thompson for once again bringing an impactful, informative, and successful Congressional Black Caucus Institute Mississippi Policy Conference to Tunica and the Mississippi Delta!

This important gathering brought together local, regional, and national elected officials, public figures, entertainers, business leaders, advocates, change-agents, and community stakeholders for meaningful conversations about the policies shaping the future of Mississippi and communities across our nation.

Mayor Errick D. Simmons was honored to join Mississippi Senate Minority Leader Senator Derrick T. Simmons and State Representative Willie Bailey for a timely panel discussion examining the state and local impacts of Federal H.R. 1—including what federal policy decisions mean on the ground for Mississippi families, municipalities, healthcare, economic opportunity, and communities throughout the Delta.

Statement of Mayor Simmons

“Federal policy becomes local reality. Decisions made in Washington ultimately show up at our city halls, hospitals, kitchen tables, small businesses, and in the everyday lives of the people we serve. That is why Mississippi—and particularly the Mississippi Delta—must have a strong voice in these conversations.

Thank you, Congressman Thompson, for continuing to bring national conversations home to Mississippi, creating space for our voices to be heard, and bringing leaders together not simply to discuss challenges—but to identify solutions, build partnerships, and move our communities forward.”

When Mississippi has a seat at the table, Mississippi has an opportunity to help shape the future.

✨ Honoring the next generation of leaders!

Our 2026 GCAAN Summer Interns gathered for a special closing ceremony as we celebrated the incredible work they accomplished throughout the program. Over the course of the internship, these students demonstrated leadership, built meaningful connections, and made a positive impact in our community while preparing for their future academic and professional journeys.

The evening was filled with reflection, encouragement, laughter, and gratitude as we recognized each intern's dedication and celebrated all they have achieved. It was a wonderful opportunity to honor their hard work and wish them continued success as they take the next steps toward their goals.

A heartfelt thank you to our interns, mentors, partners, and supporters who invested their time, guidance, and encouragement throughout this experience. Your commitment continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of our students.

Black Mayors Driving Economic Transformation

Mayor Errick D. Simmons joined an outstanding group of African American Mayors Association mayors and national leaders for AEO Talks: Martha’s Vineyard Convening 2026, participating in the panel “Black Mayors Driving Economic Transformation” in Edgartown, Massachusetts.

Moderated by former Columbia, South Carolina Mayor Steve Benjamin, the conversation brought together mayors from Albany, Savannah, Gary, Greenville, and Jonesboro to discuss how local leadership can drive economic mobility, entrepreneurship, investment, job creation, and opportunity—particularly in communities that have historically been overlooked and underinvested.

Mayor Simmons shared Greenville’s story of leveraging partnerships, infrastructure investment, workforce development, small-business support, and innovation to build an economy where progress reaches every neighborhood.

Statement of Mayor Simmons

“Economic transformation is not simply about attracting investment—it is about making sure investment transforms lives. In Greenville and across the Mississippi Delta, our mission is to connect people to opportunity, entrepreneurs to capital, workers to good-paying jobs, and historically underserved communities to the resources they need to thrive. When we invest in people, strengthen small businesses, and build pathways to economic mobility, we don’t just grow economies—we change generations.”

Mayor Simmons thanked the Association for Enterprise Opportunity and Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies for convening Black mayors and national thought leaders around solutions that can strengthen cities and expand economic opportunity across America.

From the Mississippi Delta to Martha’s Vineyard, Greenville’s voice is at the table—and Greenville’s story of resilience, investment, and transformation is being heard.
