Pitt County Animal Services Announces Saturday Pet Adoption Event and Reduced Adoption Fees All Month
Half off fees and weekend adoption clinic planned to relieve shelter capacity
PITT COUNTY, N.C. – Pitt County Animal Services (PCAS) is operating at full capacity and will host a Saturday Pet Adoption Event on September 19, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at its facility located at 4550 County Home Road, Greenville, NC. As part of the event, all cat adoption fees will be reduced by 50 percent to $48. The reduced adoption fee for all dogs is $68.
Throughout the month of September, PCAS is also offering 50 percent off adoption fees for dogs and cats over one year of age. Regular adoption hours are Monday- Friday, 1:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, heartworm testing for dogs and deworming.
“As of September 1, 2026, the Animal Shelter is at capacity, with approximately 36 cats and 57 dogs available for adoption,” says Kimberly Mitchell, Animal Services Director. “We encourage anyone considering adding a pet to their family to visit the shelter and give one of these animals a second chance at a loving home.”
