What a GREAT first week at GHS!

We couldn’t have asked for a better start to the school year! Our students and staff brought great energy, positive attitudes, and a willingness to jump right into learning. The excitement throughout the building has been awesome to see!

One great example came from Ms. Heft’s class, where students took part in their first Vertical Whiteboard Day! Students were up, working together, sharing ideas, problem-solving, and learning from one another.

And that’s just one example of the collaborative and engaged learning happening every day at GHS!

We’re off to a great start, and we’re excited to keep building on this energy throughout the year!

History came to life at GHS!

Students in Mrs. Stump’s, Mrs. Paras’s, and Ms. Rienks’s World History classes took part in a gallery walk where they analyzed famous quotes about history and explored an important question: Why do we study history?

Students worked together to dig into the meaning behind each quote, share their perspectives, and make connections between the past and the world we live in today.

A great way to get students moving, thinking, discussing, and learning together! Great work, Jackets!

📚✨ The Science of Reading at GPS!

A new Michigan law is bringing changes to reading instruction across the state—but at Greenville Public Schools, these practices are not new. Our teachers have already been using the Science of Reading approach for several years, using explicit, evidence-based instruction to help students build strong foundational reading skills.

Recently, 13 ON YOUR SIDE visited Cedar Crest Elementary to speak with first-grade teacher Keriann Poquette, who shared how this approach helps students become confident, capable readers.

In addition to the generous school supply donations, $1,500 in monetary donations were collected for our Opportunities for Success Fund, which supports students and families in need throughout the school year.

What a great way to kick off the year at GHS!

The Class of 2027 came together this morning for Senior Sunrise, starting their senior year with plenty of energy, excitement, and Jacket Pride!

Our seniors GET TO set the tone for GHS this year! They have the opportunity to lead by example, support one another, build school spirit, and help make GHS a place where everyone is proud to belong.
