With 82.90% of the vote, you delivered more than a victory, you delivered a clear and decisive statement of confidence in the leadership of Sheriff Paula S. Dance.

As Sheriff Paula Dance’s campaign manager, I want to remind you of something I said at the very beginning of this race: the closer you get to victory, the louder the distractions become.

As we approach another successful primary, it is not surprising that sudden “stories” begin to surface allegations of dissatisfaction, claims of resignation, recycled narratives about treatment of staff, or unfounded critiques of performance.

Let’s pause and think critically:

• Why do these claims only seem to emerge during election season?
• Why is there never documentation to support the accusations?
• Why does the rhetoric intensify precisely when early voting numbers rise?

Campaigns built on fear and innuendo rely on noise. Campaigns built on record and results rely on facts.

Here are the facts:

✔ Sheriff Paula Dance remains committed to protecting and serving Pitt County with integrity and transparency.
✔ Lawsuits are filed against public officials across the country every day filing is not proof, and we will not be distracted by theatrics.
✔ Sheriff Dance has never and would never exploit or take advantage of anyone especially someone vulnerable. That suggestion is not only false, it is beneath the standard of this office.

We will not sensationalize. We will not spiral. We will stay focused.

Leadership requires steadiness. Character requires consistency. And Sheriff Dance has demonstrated both for two full terms.

Everyone wants what you have… until they understand the work it takes to earn it.

Leadership is not a title. It is long hours, difficult decisions, accountability, and responsibility for every outcome good or bad.

I am running for reelection because my work in this office is not finished.

When I first asked for your trust, I made commitments. I did not offer empty campaign promises. I fulfilled them. Every single one. I did not leave one item incomplete.

While strengthening operations and improving public safety outcomes, our office also earned recognition for excellence and we were selected as one of only two counties in North Carolina to implement the RISE program. Ninety-eight counties did not receive that opportunity.

That is not luck. That is disciplined administration.

I am protective of the Office of Sheriff because it belongs to the people of Pitt County. And with your continued support, I will leave it better than I found it.

This role requires proven administrative leadership not simply participation in programs, but responsibility for budgets, personnel, compliance, and outcomes.

Pitt County deserves experience.
Pitt County deserves continuity.
And Pitt County deserves a Sheriff who understands the weight of this office.
