We have received several questions regarding why the lights at Clarksville/Main Street and High Street/Main Street no longer switch to "flash" mode during inclement weather, as they have in years past. We understand that many residents found the flashing sequence helpful during heavy snow or ice; however, recent upgrades to the signal hardware have changed how these intersections must operate.

Following the installation of the new traffic signal system, our department reached out to PennDOT to request the restoration of the manual "flash" override. PennDOT has informed us that the new controllers are preset to a standard cycle and that manual changes to the sequence are no longer permitted.

Drivers are still strongly encouraged to be aware of surrounding traffic and use caution when using the intersection during inclement weather.
