Bond County Sheriff’s Office Welcomes New Deputy Ryan Carter

Bond County, Illinois — August 13, 2026

The Bond County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the hiring and recent swearing-in of Ryan Carter as a new deputy sheriff.

Carter is a 2009 graduate of Mulberry Grove High School and brings prior corrections experience to the Bond County Sheriff’s Office. For a little over a year, he has served as a Correctional Officer with the Bond County Jail, where he gained valuable experience working within the criminal justice system.

Carter will begin his 16-week basic police academy at the SWIC Police Academy on Monday, August 17, 2026. Upon successful completion of the academy, he will continue his training through a 14-week Field Training Program with certified Field Training Officers within the Bond County Sheriff’s Office.

The combined academy and field training process will provide Carter with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to serve the citizens of Bond County as a law enforcement officer.

Carter currently resides in the City of Greenville and is looking forward to continuing his career in public service in the community he calls home.

“Ryan’s previous experience with the Bond County Jail gives him a solid foundation as he begins this next chapter in his law enforcement career,” said Bond County Sheriff Josh Hill. “We are pleased to welcome him to our deputy division and look forward to watching him develop into a dedicated and professional deputy sheriff.”

The Bond County Sheriff’s Office congratulates Deputy Carter on his appointment and wishes him success as he begins his academy training on August 17.
