Kentucky National Guard medics tested their life-saving skills during a two-week recertification course at Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center, Feb. 21-March 6.

The training brought together combat medics, paramedics, and critical care flight paramedics to refresh essential knowledge and ensure readiness to provide care in both combat and domestic response missions.

“Our goal is to make sure every medic leaves here confident in their abilities,” Lowe said. “Whether they’re supporting Soldiers in the field or responding to an emergency during a state mission, these skills save lives.”

"I think it's a great honor to my unit to be out here," says Spc. Caleb Green, HHB, 138th OFC. "What motivated me was going back to my unit... There's a lot of people pushing me who just wanted me to go out there and do my best."

Today, Green and Staff Sgt. Shea Moody, attached to Det 1, HHC, 1/149th Infantry, were named the victors of the Best Warrior Competition and receiving the titles of Soldier and NCO of the year, respectively.

Through determination, perseverance, and a spirit of unyielding excellence, these two soldiers have earned the honor of representing Kentucky at the upcoming Region III Best Warrior Competition, putting their skills to the test against Soldiers and NCOs of the year from other states.
