Good morning, everyone!

The Greenville Police Department will be holding Interviews on Monday, October 5th and Tuesday, October 6th for the position of Patrol Officer.

Applications are to be submitted to the Mayor's Office at 100 Public Square by 1:00pm on Thursday, October 1st. Applicants must be 21 years of age on or prior to your interview, have a valid driver's license, and hold a High School Diploma or GED. Those with a current OPOTA certification are encouraged to apply.

🐾 Another Win for GPD’s K-9 Team! 🐾

GPD’s K-9 teams have been busy lately sniffing out drugs and helping keep our streets safer! Their hard work has assisted officers with several significant arrests, with the most recent coming during a traffic stop that resulted in the recovery of more than 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

We’re proud of the work our K-9 teams and their handlers continue to do for our community.

And Kilo? Let’s just say he’s been living up to his name lately… but thankfully, the only thing he’s hooked on is tennis balls and treats. 😂🐕‍🦺🎾💙

🚔 The Side of Law Enforcement Most People Never See

On August 22, 2026, Greenville Police Officers responded to a call involving an adult male who was armed and exhibiting threatening behavior. Upon arrival, officers learned there was a 10-year-old family member inside the residence, and the adult male would not allow her to leave.

Officers could see and hear the child crying for help from inside the home. Faced with a rapidly evolving and dangerous situation, officers made the decision to enter the residence and safely remove the child from harm.

The adult male was later located and transported to receive the medical and mental health assistance he needed.

Law enforcement often requires split-second decision-making in circumstances that are tense, uncertain, and emotionally charged. In this case, the actions of our officers may have prevented a tragic outcome.

We are grateful for the dedication of our staff. These are the life-changing moments that remind us why we serve and truly make a difference in the lives of others.

A big thank you to 4-year-old Paysle for stopping by the Greenville Police Department and donating sensory bags for our officers to use during interactions with individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Paysle’s 6-year-old brother has autism, and she and her mom, Rebecca, put these bags together to help individuals feel more comfortable and at ease when interacting with law enforcement.

The Greenville Police Department is also proud to partner with the Darke County Board of Developmental Disabilities through the Blue Envelope Program. This program is designed to provide law enforcement with important information that can help us communicate more effectively and appropriately when interacting with individuals who have developmental disabilities.

Our goal is simple: to make every interaction safer, more informed, and more comfortable for everyone involved.

Thank you, Paysle and Rebecca, for helping us make a difference! We are grateful for your support and for the opportunity to better serve every member of our community. 👮‍♂️💙
