Well Water Quality Analysis

We began this project in June 2017, getting our motivation from the Flint Michigan water crisis. After further research, we realized wells are not regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Private well owners are solely responsible for their well maintenance and its water quality but are often unaware of the factors affecting these important issues. Many well owners do not regularly test their water and therefore may be unknowingly washing, cooking with, and drinking contaminated water that could present a health concern. We believe there is a greater need for us focusing on well water quality, and have made that the focus of this project.

We are analyzing wells for the concentrations of metals, including lead, arsenic, and iron; as well as a microbial analysis, a total dissolved solids analysis, and an analysis of the well’s nitrate concentration. These components are all very important when evaluating the quality of the drinking water, and all tests are approved by the EPA.

If you, or anyone you know has a well, we would love to test it! Please do like and share our page as our goal is to help as many people in Southern Illinois as possible!

The cost of analysis is $20 per kit, all results are confidential and will be reported to participants.
