Good afternoon, Pirate Families!

We hope everyone enjoys the Labor Day weekend! As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, September 7.

This week’s Pirate News is filled with important information and reminders for our families. Please take a few minutes to review the newsletter. Highlights include:

📚 Attendance Matters: Help your Pirate arrive at school every day and on time—every day counts!
👕 Dress Code: Please review our expectations, including the fingertip guideline for shorts and skirts.
🍎 Kindergarten Families: Please help your child practice and memorize their lunch number.
📁 Wednesday Folders: Check your child’s Weekly Communication Folder and return any required forms.
💵 School Fees: The deadline to pay school fees is September 30.
🏴‍☠️ Join Our PTO: Our first PTO meeting will be held during Curriculum Night on September 24.
🚌 Bus Riders: Kindergarten and 1st-grade families must have an adult at the bus stop each afternoon to receive their child.

¡Esperamos que todos disfruten del fin de semana del Día del Trabajo! Les recordamos que no habrá clases el lunes 7 de septiembre.

El boletín "Pirate News" de esta semana contiene información importante y recordatorios para nuestras familias. Por favor, tómense unos minutos para revisarlo. Entre los puntos destacados se incluyen:

📚 La asistencia es clave: Ayude a su estudiante "Pirate" a llegar a la escuela todos los días y a tiempo; ¡cada día cuenta!
👕 Código de vestimenta: Por favor, revise nuestras normas, incluida la regla de la longitud (hasta la punta de los dedos) para pantalones cortos y faldas.
🍎 Familias de Kindergarten: Por favor, ayuden a su hijo a practicar y memorizar su número de almuerzo.

¡Estamos muy emocionados de compartir excelentes noticias de Wahl-Coates Elementary School of the Arts! 🎉🏴‍☠️

Los resultados recientemente publicados del Rendimiento Escolar 2025–26 muestran que nuestros Piratas continúan avanzando. Wahl-Coates obtuvo una puntuación de rendimiento escolar de 61 y una calificación de C, lo que representa un aumento de 8 puntos con respecto a 2024–25 y nuestra puntuación de rendimiento más alta de los últimos cinco años.

También nos enorgullece que nuestros estudiantes superaron el crecimiento esperado, con una puntuación de crecimiento de 89.6, mientras que los resultados de lectura, matemáticas y ciencias muestran avances y tendencias positivas.

Este progreso refleja el arduo trabajo de nuestros estudiantes, la dedicación de nuestro personal y el continuo apoyo de nuestras familias y comunidad. ¡Celebramos lo lejos que hemos llegado y estamos entusiasmados por todo lo que aún podemos lograr!

We’re excited to share some great news from Wahl-Coates Elementary School of the Arts! 🎉🏴‍☠️

Our newly released 2025–26 School Performance Data shows that our Pirates are making strong progress! Wahl-Coates earned a School Performance Score of 61 and a grade of C, an 8-point increase from 2024–25 and our highest performance score in the past five years.

We are also proud that our students exceeded expected growth, with a Growth Score of 89.6, while reading, math, and science data reflect encouraging gains and upward trends.

This progress represents the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the continued partnership of our families and community. We celebrate how far we have come—and we are excited about where we are headed!

📚✨ SEPTEMBER IS ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH! ✨📚

Every School Day Counts! 🏴‍☠️

This month, we’re shining a spotlight on the importance of regular school attendance and sharing simple tips to help our students arrive on time, every day, ready to learn!

Did you know? Missing just a few days of school can add up quickly and make it harder for students to keep up academically and stay connected socially.

Throughout September, we’ll be sharing ATTENDANCE TIPS for students and families, including:

⏰ Creating a consistent morning routine
🎒 Preparing for school the night before
🚌 Planning ahead for transportation
😴 Establishing healthy bedtime routines
📅 Keeping track of appointments and school events
💬 Communicating with the school when challenges arise

Good afternoon, Wahl-Coates families! This is Ms. Harrison with a few important reminders from this week’s Pirate News.

We had a great week reinforcing our schoolwide expectations and our mantra: Every Student — This is Me! Every Day — I’m Ready! Every Opportunity — I’ll Do My Best!

Please remember to review your child’s Wednesday Communication Folder each week, sign and return any required forms, and send the folder back to school.

School fees are due by September 30, and families are encouraged to use the Edulog app to help track bus routes. Parents of Kindergarten and 1st grade bus riders must also have an adult at the bus stop each afternoon to receive their child.

Finally, beginning Monday, August 31, our Kindergarten and 1st grade students will celebrate Independence Day by walking to their classrooms independently, with staff available throughout the building to assist.
