🔥 A SHIFT — WORKING FIRE 🔥

Shortly after 3:00 PM today, Truck 96, staffed by A Shift, was dispatched to assist Station 75 – Transfer Volunteer Fire Department with a reported kitchen fire in an apartment building at Reynolds West Estates.

First-arriving crews from Station 75 encountered heavy smoke showing with fire on the first floor that had extended up the exterior of the building to the second floor and attic area.

Truck 96 arrived shortly after and immediately went to work. The crew stretched a handline to the rear of the building for fire attack while the aerial ladder was positioned to the roof for ventilation operations. The crew from Truck 96 then worked alongside firefighters from Station 75, assisting with fire attack and ventilation.

Approximately 10 fire departments responded to the incident, with crews working together throughout fire attack, ventilation, and extensive overhaul operations.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Incidents like today demonstrate the importance of cooperation between departments when a significant fire impacts our community. We appreciate the work of every firefighter and agency that responded and assisted on scene.

The members of Greenville Firefighters IAFF Local 1976 extend our thoughts and prayers to all of those affected by today’s fire. Our thoughts are with the residents and families displaced or impacted by the incident.

🔥 HOUSE FIRE — VANCE STREET 🔥

Station 96, along with the first-alarm assignment, was dispatched to a reported house fire on Vance Street in the Borough of Greenville.

Rescue 96 arrived just over three minutes after dispatch to find smoke showing from a two-story residence. Captain 96 established command while the crew made entry and located a working fire in the kitchen.

The fire was quickly knocked down and extinguished, allowing Command to cancel the balance of the first-alarm assignment. Station 96 personnel remained on scene to complete ventilation and overhaul before returning to service.

⏱️ Response Timeline
• Rescue 96 arrived 3 minutes, 33 seconds after dispatch
• Fire extinguished 4 minutes, 35 seconds after arrival
• Crews returned to station approximately 30 minutes after the initial dispatch

The quick response and aggressive interior attack kept the fire contained and prevented further damage to the residence.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by today’s fire.

🔥 HOUSE FIRE ASSIST – JAMESTOWN 🔥

Truck 96 responded to assist Station 89 – Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department for a reported house fire with smoke inside the structure.

Upon arrival, Truck 96 found a two-story wood-frame residence with nothing evident from the exterior. The Truck 96 crew entered the residence and encountered a light smoke condition, locating an oven fire that had been extinguished prior to arrival.

Crews from Rescue 89 and Engine 89-2 arrived and assisted with checking for extension and ventilating the residence. No extension beyond the oven was found.

The balance of the first-alarm assignment was canceled while crews from Stations 96 and 89 remained on scene. Once the residence was ventilated and the smoke condition cleared, all units returned to service.

🚨 APPARATUS SPOTLIGHT — SQUAD 96 🚨

Today, we conclude our Apparatus Spotlight series by introducing the newest addition to the Greenville Fire Department fleet — Squad 96!

This 2026 Ford F-350 was designed with one goal in mind: putting the right resources on the street quickly, efficiently, and safely.

🚑 EMS Response
As a PA Department of Health licensed Quick Response Service (QRS) vehicle, Squad 96 will primarily respond to medical emergencies throughout the Borough of Greenville and surrounding communities.

🔥 Fireground Support
Equipped with SCBAs and assorted firefighting tools, Squad 96 allows additional and off-duty firefighters to respond directly to fire incidents and support crews already operating on scene.

🌊 Water Rescue
Additional water rescue equipment gives Squad 96 another important role in supporting swift water, ice rescue, and other water-related emergencies.

🚗 Vehicle Extrication
Squad 96 carries a battery-powered Hurst eDraulic combi-tool, providing backup to Rescue 96 while also allowing additional extrication operations to take place simultaneously—helping our crews work faster when every second matters.

One of the biggest advantages of Squad 96 is its size and versatility. EMS responses make up a significant portion of our call volume, and utilizing a smaller, more maneuverable and fuel-efficient vehicle allows us to respond effectively without operating a larger piece of fire apparatus on every call. Over time, that means reduced fuel consumption, less wear on our larger apparatus, and lower operating costs—all while maintaining the level of service our community expects.

Squad 96 may be smaller than the rest of our front-line fleet, but its role is anything but small.

Welcome to service, Squad 96! 🚒🚑

Thank you for following along with our Apparatus Spotlight series and learning more about the equipment your Greenville firefighters use every day to serve our community.
