The Julie Valentine Center sends our deepest condolences to the family of Sgt. Ashley Munoz and the Greenville Police Department, and honor her life and legacy.
An 11-year veteran of the Greenville Police Department, Sgt. Munoz dedicated her life to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community. Promoted to sergeant in 2023, she supervised GPD’s Criminal Investigations Units, including Property Crimes, Financial Crimes, and Family Crimes. Her impact extended far beyond individual cases. Through her work training officers, LEVAs, and advocates across South Carolina, she helped weave trauma-informed care, compassion, and dignity into the way our communities respond to survivors.
During her time leading the Family Crimes Unit, Sgt. Munoz served with unwavering dedication, kindness, and integrity. She was deeply respected not only for her leadership, but for the compassion she showed to children, families, survivors, and colleagues every single day.
Her legacy will continue through the countless lives she touched, the professionals she mentored, and the safer, more compassionate systems she helped build.
We are grateful for her service, her heart, and her commitment to protecting others. She will not be forgotten. Please keep Diana, Ashley’s wife, in your thoughts as she is in Critical Condition.
