A couple months ago, I posted a story about Johnny Hurley, a hero who was killed by police after he stopped a shooter from killing countless police and civilians.

On June 21st, a shooter killed a police officer in Arvada Colorado. Johnny, a libertarian community leader, shot and killed the shooter.

Moments later, an Arvada Police officer killed Johnny.

Initially, the Arvada City Government tried to make it sound like Johnny had been killed by the shooter.

After FOIA requests and investigations, it was determined that an Arvada cop had indeed killed Johnny.

Yesterday, they announced that no one would be held accountable for, despite the fact that Johnny's killer never even attempted to positively ID him as the shooter, or even tell him to put his gun down before killing him.

If any of us were to kill someone in a similar situation and public setting, we would undoubtedly be prosecuted for it.

Worse yet, the shooter apparently hated police and was attempting to kill as many as possible. Johnny saved the lives of Arvada Police officers, they killed him for it, and no one is being punished for his killing.

Johnny Hurley was a hero, even before he saved lives. The Arvada government isn't fit to clean his shoes, and we will not rest until the impediments to holding government accountable for their crimes are removed.

I ask that you share this post so that as many people as possible know about Johnny's heroism, and the absolute travesty in how his killing is being handled by the Arvada government.

Watching the news or scrolling through my news feed is an exercise, sometimes, in aggravation.

I am vehemently opposed to totalitarianism in all forms — I don’t secretly believe one group is somehow better than the other, or harbor ill will towards the other.
I am opposed to the State, which by it’s very definition, has a monopoly on force. Fighting for control of the State in order to weaponize it against others is in direct opposition to the beliefs we hold. It doesn’t matter who wears the crown — if they’re doing it at the expense of others, it’s wrong.

I became involved in politics for one singular reason - to reduce, and ideally, eliminate harm. I stand for everyone’s natural rights to life, liberty, and justly-acquired property...even those who hold beliefs that wouldn’t do the same for me. I believe the most ethical society is one based entirely on voluntary relationships, and the only way to overcome prejudices is to interact with, and learn about, others.
This splitting of the entire American populace into one of two camps independent of anything they’ve ever said, done, or believed, and then penalizing them for the beliefs you or others ascribed to them is madness.
I reject it. I reject Marxism. I reject Na**sm. I think it’s absurd I should even have to say that.

Most of the people at the BLM protests this summer weren’t Marxists. Most of the people at the Capitol protests on the 6th weren’t N***s. What you see on the media are the lunatic fringe, and even then, I’ll remind you: consider the narrative, who is controlling it, and why. Randy Weaver wasn’t a White Supremacist, but that didn’t stop government officials and the media from saying he was one. Why? Because it made the slaughter of his family at Ruby Ridge just a little less awful. “Don’t get mad,” the subtext reads, “This was justified.”
No; it wasn’t. It isn’t. This isn’t.

I take this particular path, even when the odds seem stacked against us more than ever, because I don’t want the powderkeg we are sitting on as a nation to blow. I don’t want anyone — not even people whose actions fill me with absolute disgust — to be hurt. Christ, I have probably spent the better part of my adulthood reading about serial killers, rapists, and sadists and even then! Even then, when they’re guilty as hell, I still oppose the death penalty.

I don’t believe the “ends justify the means”, I reject the mentality that you have to “break a few eggs to make an omelet”, and natural rights don’t only apply to people we like.

TL;DR - As a libertarian, I reject the State and any ideology that justifies or defends it — PERIOD.
