Affordable child care is a workforce issue.

The pause in South Carolina’s Working Families Child Care Scholarship program will create real challenges for families who depend on reliable child care to go to work, attend school or complete job training.

When parents can work and children have access to quality care, families, employers and communities are stronger.

We encourage leaders across sectors to work together toward sustainable solutions that keep South Carolina families working.

63 years ago today, more than a quarter million people gathered in Washington, D.C., demanding freedom, justice and equal rights.

Their courage changed America. Their voices moved this nation forward. And the progress they fought for must never be taken for granted.

Today, we honor their legacy not simply by remembering the March on Washington, but by continuing the work.

Protect the progress. Keep moving forward. Keep fighting for equality.

We, the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. - Xi Theta Lambda Chapter (Spartanburg, South Carolina), cordially invites high school juniors, seniors, and their parents to our 6th Annual College Fair. 💚 Building relationships. Strengthening community. Opening doors in Anderson.

Over the past two weeks, the Urban League of the Upstate has been on the move in Anderson, intentionally connecting with the community, increasing awareness of our presence, and sharing the work being done through our partnership with Generation 4’s SHIELD Program.

Last weekend, Maria M. Arnold had the opportunity to visit Mount Zion Baptist Church, and today that outreach continued with a wonderful welcome from Generostee Baptist Church.

The morning also brought a very special surprise when Maria was greeted by a familiar face — Dr. Jacquelyn Blackley, one of the Urban League of the Upstate’s very own Board Members! 💚 Maria had no idea Generostee was Dr. Blackley’s home church, making the connection an unexpected and especially meaningful moment.

Maria also had the pleasure of connecting with Dr. Shirley Mae Timmons and First Lady Williams, who warmly welcomed the Urban League’s presence and expressed excitement about continuing the conversation around ways we can work together to support their congregation — including the exciting possibility of developing a health ministry within the church. 🙏🏽

These moments are a beautiful reminder of what community outreach is all about: showing up, building genuine relationships, listening, and discovering new opportunities to serve together.

A special thank you to Dr. Ankoma Anderson for continuing to open doors, make meaningful introductions, and help strengthen our connections throughout Anderson. The relationships being built today are creating opportunities for even greater impact tomorrow.

Today was a wonderful day of outreach, connection, partnership, and new beginnings. We are excited to continue growing our presence, strengthening relationships, and serving alongside the Anderson community.

Anderson, we’re here — and we’re just getting started! 💚✨
