🚚 Behind the Scenes: Fleet P&M

GUC is always ready to roll, lift, dig, respond and restore thanks to its Fleet Division. Recently, we went behind the scenes with our Master Mechanics, and this week we dive into preventative and routine maintenance with our Mechanic I’s.

Fleet keeps a rigorous maintenance schedule for more than 600 assets, which include vehicles, trailers, and equipment. In one month, Fleet’s two Mechanic I’s and five Master Mechanics complete 110 preventative maintenance services. On average, around 150 fleet assets move through the garage monthly on a maintenance or repair schedule.

Fleet is always busy, but accuracy and quality are never sacrificed. This highly skilled team maintains an exceptional rate of preventative and routine maintenance compliance with all assets being available and exceeding a rate of 96%. Fleet’s P&M work is a part of the foundation that ensures GUC provides quality and reliable electric, gas, and water services to the Greater Greenville area.

Happy Backflow Prevention Day!

Backflow preventers are the unsung heroes of water safety, as they often go unnoticed yet play a crucial role in supplying clean and safe water all over the world. The purpose of this day is to acknowledge the importance of backflow prevention, educate the public on how this life-saving technology is used, and to recognize the water quality professionals responsible for installing and maintaining backflow preventers.

👏 Join us today in thanking our Environmental Control Officer Deanna Castellow for her commitment to backflow prevention! Among many other things, Deanna holds semi-annual tester's certification courses to enable plumbers and technicians in our area to better service the cross-connection needs of our customers. The tester’s certification courses are part of our comprehensive program designed to protect our water system from harmful cross-connections. All backflow testers must complete a re-certification course every three years. To learn more about this valuable program, visit guc.com/water/backflow
