Pitt County Economic Development is sharing a lineup of free webinars, workshops, and training courses designed to support existing industry, improve efficiency, and strengthen sustainability practices.

🔹 January: Energy-saving strategies for commercial buildings
🔹 February: Manufacturing systems & material handling + Energy Management Systems (ISO 50001) training (limited-time free registration)
🔹 March: Hurricane resilience, pollution prevention & an in-person sustainability workshop at ECU

These sessions are led by ECU faculty and industry experts and are open to businesses across the region.

We are proud to have such great leaders in Pitt County! Last week our Assistant Director, Shayla Douglas and Victor Ihuka, a Graduate Research Assistant ECU Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement, both graduated from the Rural Economic Development Institute at the NC Rural Center. On December 8, Pitt County Economic Development Director, Kelly Andrews, attended the 11th annual NC Clean Energy Champions event in Greensboro. Sponsored by the Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE), the gathering of business leaders, economic developers, and elected officials celebrated North Carolina's clean energy momentum.

Pitt County Economic Development was recognized with a Clean Energy Champion Award for excellence in clean energy policy and economic development leadership. The award emphasized Pitt County’s support for clean energy economic investment and job creation opportunities. This follows Boviet Solar’s $294 million investment and 1300 jobs over 5 years, announced in 2024.

Pitt County Government Offices and PATS Closure Notice
Early closure and opening delays due to winter weather

PITT COUNTY, N.C. – Pitt County Government offices including Public Health clinical services and Cultural Arts & Recreation classes will close at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025 due to inclement winter weather and will operate on a two-hour delay, opening at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Pitt Area Transit System (PATS) will halt public transportation services at 3:00 p.m. today and operate on a two-hour delay, opening at 8:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Patients with clinic and PATS appointments will be contacted for rescheduling.

Normal operating hours are expected to resume Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

Solid Waste and Recycling (Transfer Station and Convenience Sites) will operate on its normal schedule.

We are proud to announce that Pitt County Economic Development will be hosting an NCEDA Foundation Fellow this Summer!

The NCEDA Foundation Economic Development Fellowship Program provides funding for student Fellows to work with economic development organizations in North Carolina. Through this program, Fellows gain valuable experience and networking opportunities while assisting EDOs on identified projects. For Pitt County, the Fellow will work on industry retention and expansion programming.
