I am extremely proud of our Raider Team for their strong performance at the Grissom Raider Competition in Huntsville on September 27th!
We had 22 cadets compete and earn the Raider Team Ribbon, Arc Pin, and black Shoulder Cord!

For many cadets, this was their first ever Raider competition, and for all of them, it was their first time competing in the 1-Rope Bridge event. A highlight of the day was the Mixed Team performing smoothly on that event and cutting more than two minutes off their best practice time.

A huge thank-you to SFC Steve Gaddy for helping this team form, grow, and train over the past six weeks. These cadets definitely returned to Butler County tired but proud!

An outstanding performance by our Tiger Battalion at the Stanhope Elmore Drill Meet on September 13th!
Our cadets represented us with pride and dedication. They’ll be the first to tell you there’s still room for improvement and routines yet to perfect, but earning Second Place Overall Drill Team is an incredible start!

Event finishes included:
• 1st Place Armed Regulation
• 1st Place Armed Inspection
• 1st Place Dual Armed Exhibition
• 2nd Place Unarmed Regulation
• 2nd Place Unarmed Color Guard
• 3rd Place Armed Color Guard

Our Academic Teams, Team A and Team B, also earned 2nd and 3rd Place Trophies. A special congratulations to Cadet Adalyn Lett, who earned the 3rd Place Overall Academic Medallion — as a 9th grader!

The future is bright for these cadets. GO TIGERS!

Throwback to an absolutely wonderful trip by our Raider Team to Marion Military Institute on September 10th!
The Swamp Fox cadets at MMI trained with us, helped us compete, and pushed us to improve. A few pictures show just how much our cadets were challenged, how hard they worked, and how much they learned.

A big thank-you to CPT Clayton Nicholson for hosting us and giving our cadets an excellent briefing on MMI programs and scholarship opportunities.

These outstanding young people definitely earned a good night’s rest after that day!

We’ve officially reached the end of JROTC camp season with the conclusion of the National Flight Academy at Pensacola Naval Air Station, held from June 22–27. Some of the cadets who graduated completed every single camp offered throughout the month of June—and definitely earned some well-deserved rest.

Congratulations to our seven outstanding Tiger Battalion graduates: Matthew “Boots” Godwin, Tayler “Ghost” Green, Mason “Trifecta” Hovis, Wyatt “Striker” Hovis, Ethan “Rino” Johnson, Camryn “Vault” Stinson, and Jayden “Lucky” McMeans. GO TIGERS!

We had a great Cadet Orientation Camp! Both returning and new cadets participated in a wide range of activities, including the rock climbing wall, AFT (Army Fitness Test), pugil sticks, marching, Color Guard, archery, and more.

The second day kicked off with a drill competition, which was won by Team Alpha, led by Tayler Green. Cadets then visited Greenville Fire Station Two, where they learned about careers in Fire and Safety—special thanks to Chief Belletete for the support! The camp wrapped up with a cookout, sports, and some well-earned relaxation.

JCLC Columbiana was a tremendous success for the Tiger Battalion. With 17 cadets participating, the group made an early impact by arriving ahead of schedule to assist with setup and registration. Nearly every cadet took on a leadership role from the very first day, showcasing their dedication and initiative. Many of Butler County’s cadets also stood out by leading their respective Drill and Color Guard teams.

Throughout the camp, Tiger Battalion cadets earned multiple Cadet of the Day awards, including Camryn Stinson, Colin Mosley, Matthew Godwin (twice), ShaNariya Womack, Jayden McMeans, Tayler Green, and Alex Braswell. The cadets excelled in competitions as well, with Team 8 (commanded by Jayden McMeans) winning First Place, Team 5 (commanded by Tayler Green) taking Second Place, and Team 2 (commanded by ShaNariya Womack) securing Third Place in the blended Drill and Color Guard competitions. Special recognition also goes to Dentavious Searight, who contributed to the Third Place Color Guard, and Alex Braswell, who contributed to the Second Place Color Guard and took First Place in the Pushup Competition out of 192 cadets.

Overall, Tiger Battalion cadets displayed strong leadership, teamwork, and excellence, leaving a lasting impression at JCLC. GO TIGERS!

Wiregrass STEM Camp 2025 has concluded and it was a great success. Tiger Battalion cadets performed exceptionally well, and I am most proud of the fact that we brought 24 cadets and all 24 graduated. Congratulations to Red 1, commanded by Alex Braswell, for winning 1st Place in the Drill Competition. Green 1, commanded by Daven McCullough, earned 2nd Place, and Blue 1, commanded by Tayler Green, earned the 3rd Place trophy.
Cadets Alex Braswell, Tayler Green, Elijahn Johnson-Perry, ShaNariya Womack, Jayden McMeans, and Mason Hovis earned "Maritime Maverick" awards for exceptional performance on the STEM Challenge. Each received their own Radio Controlled Boat thanks to a generous donation from CGI.
Graduation awards for Most Leadership Potential in their Platoon were earned by Alex Braswell, Tayler Green, ShaNariya Womack, Jayden McMeans, and Mason Hovis.
Congratulations to Elijahn Johnson-Perry for earning the Most Academic Potential Award. Great Job Cadets!!!
