Boiling Springs Fire District Community, heavy rain can quickly create dangerous flooding conditions, especially in low-lying areas and on roadways.

Never drive through flooded roads. Just a small amount of moving water can carry away a vehicle, and it is often impossible to tell how deep the water really is. Turn around and find another route.

If flash flooding occurs, move to higher ground, avoid walking through flood waters, and monitor trusted weather alerts. Flood water may contain debris, hidden hazards, or contaminated water.

Take time this week to review your severe weather plan and identify areas near your home or commute that are prone to flooding.

Boiling Springs Fire District Community, Ladder-14 had a great time helping cool down the Woody Creek Swim Team after their recent shaving cream fight celebration.

Our crew was glad to join in on the fun and help make the day even more memorable for the kids and families involved. Opportunities like this are a great reminder that being part of the community also means getting to celebrate together.

Thank you to everyone who invited us out, and we hope everyone had a blast!

Boiling Springs Fire District Community, multiple rounds of heavy rainfall are expected throughout the holiday weekend. While much of the rain will be beneficial, periods of very heavy rainfall may occur, with some areas potentially receiving 2–3 inches in a short 3-hour window. This raises the risk for localized flash flooding, especially in parts of the western Upstate and surrounding areas, beginning this afternoon through the early overnight period and continuing into the weekend.

In addition, a few strong to severe storms cannot be ruled out. These storms may produce damaging winds, large hail up to 1 inch, and a brief, weak tornado. The overall severe threat is low, but not zero.

With many outdoor events planned, we encourage everyone to stay weather aware, especially for rapidly changing conditions and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.

Guidance:

Never drive through flooded roadways
Move indoors at the first sign of thunder or lightning
Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts
Adjust or delay outdoor plans when storms approach

Stay alert and stay safe throughout the weekend.

Boiling Springs Fire District Community, we had the opportunity to visit the Back Path of Buena Vista and celebrate with the students on their last day of school. The kids had a blast, the parents got a little wet, and the entire community came together for a fun and memorable send-off to the school year.

Thank you to the students, teachers, and families for inviting us to be part of such a fun celebration. We always enjoy supporting moments that bring our community together.

As we head into summer, remember to stay safe!

Boiling Springs Fire District Community, understanding the difference between a severe weather watch and warning can help you make faster, safer decisions during dangerous weather.

A Watch means conditions are favorable for severe weather to develop. Think of it like gathering ingredients for tacos. The ingredients are there, but tacos have not been made yet. During a watch, stay alert, review your safety plan, and monitor trusted weather sources.

A Warning means severe weather is happening now or has been detected nearby. The tacos are made and on the table. It is time to take action immediately and move to a safe location.

Take time this week to review where you would go during severe weather and make sure you have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts.

Boiling Springs Fire District Community, community gardens are a great way to bring people together, encourage healthy living, and strengthen neighborhoods. Keeping these spaces safe is important for everyone involved.

Be aware of potentially poisonous plants and know how to respond if exposure occurs. Store potting soil, mulch, and other organic materials away from ignition sources, and properly dispose of smoking materials to reduce fire risks. Use gardening tools safely, maintain clear walking paths, and consider learning basic first aid skills.

Take time this week to check your gardening area for hazards and help keep your community garden safe for everyone.
