The Real Deal

It’s an election year for the House, so you better believe some otherwise not-so-great representatives are suddenly on their best behavior.

Here’s a simple way to test your representative—and this is a real example of what I’ve personally experienced and am still watching happen in real time.

A sincere legislator, one supported by the good people of South Carolina, files legislation. It goes nowhere. Why? Because that legislator has repeatedly stood up to the establishment when it didn’t align with what voters actually want.

Fast forward to an election year.

The exact same legislation—previously ignored—gets filed by a different legislator who is part of the establishment… and who didn’t really support it the year before. Suddenly? It gets traction.

🚩 There’s your sign.

It’s not about the legislation.
It’s not about doing what’s right.
It’s about recognition and reelection.

When someone is willing to take the lead on legislation that another sitting member already filed and championed, that tells me everything I need to know.

Pay attention. Election years reveal a lot.

After spending 7 years in the South Carolina State House, and now having been away for a year, I’ve had time to reflect. A few thoughts I believe are worth sharing:

• God is still in control, and He is placing people exactly where they need to be to stand for truth.
• People will always disagree on what “truth” is—but truth itself does not change.
• Too many people in positions of power have lost touch with the very people their decisions affect every day.
• One of the clearest signs of a good candidate is often someone who never really wanted to be a candidate at all.
• Good will always prevail but rarely on the timeline good people prefer.
• And in my case, the pasture truly was greener on the other side.

As we head into another campaign season, I encourage South Carolinians to remember this: every current officeholder already has a voting record. That record tells a far more honest story than any campaign slogan or promise ever will.

Stay engaged. Stay prayerful. And above all—stay discerning.

Hard to believe I began this fight for SC girls 6 yrs ago and we finally have a president willing to sign this common sense legislation🙌🏻.

The order is titled "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports."

After spending close to $300,000 to mislead District 28, the voters have sent a message loud and clear to the Columbia Leadership! WE CAN’T BE BOUGHT!!! I wonder if their political advisors offer a money back guarantee😉. Thank you to everyone that came out to support and vote for my replacement and your next Representative! Congratulations Representative Chris Huff! May God continue to prepare and protect your path🇺🇸
