Coahoma Community College Senior College Tour

Yesterday, the seniors from West Bolivar High School and Shaw High School had the opportunity to visit Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

The college tour gave our seniors an opportunity to experience the campus environment and learn more about the different educational and career pathways available after high school. Students were able to explore options in academics, Career and Technical Education, Health Sciences, and workforce training. Coahoma Community College offers programs ranging from nursing and health sciences to welding, automotive technology, cosmetology, commercial truck driving, electrical technology, and many others.
This was another great opportunity for our West Bolivar and Shaw High School seniors to explore their options and take another step toward becoming college-, career-, and workforce-ready!
Exposure creates opportunities, and opportunities help our students build their future!

Tears of joy filled the hall ways at South Delta High School on September 10, 2026, when one of our very own students returned to his alma mater South Delta High School. U.S Marine Corps PVT 1st class JB Watson Jr. is serving his country which has always been a dream of his. Career Coach Kate Sisney made sure that would happen on her clock. JB spoke to his fellow classmates about his journey completing his 13 weeks boot camp along with the level of maturity you will gain while enduring this training. This is what success looks like when you have done all you can do to get your student to the point where he or she wants to be. I often tell my students do not let a zip code define you. Be all you can be and a mind is a terrible thing to waste. All you need is one student to turn things around to be a success. As a third year career coach, it's not about me. It's all about what I instill in my students. Career Coaching pays off!

West Bolivar High School College Tour at Northwest Mississippi Community College
West Bolivar High School students had the opportunity to visit Northwest Mississippi Community College for an exciting college tour and career exploration experience. During the visit, students learned about the college’s academic and career-technical programs, admissions requirements, financial aid opportunities, student life, and campus resources.
The tour gave students an opportunity to experience the college environment firsthand, ask questions, and explore different educational and career pathways available after high school. Experiences like this help students make informed decisions about their future while encouraging them to begin planning early for life after graduation.
As Career Coach, I am proud to provide our students with opportunities that expose them to college, career, and workforce options and help them see the many possibilities available for their future.

In the past 2 days of career coaching sessions, I introduced career clusters to the 8th-grade students as a way to help them begin thinking about their future career options. I explained that a career cluster is a group of careers that share similar skills, interests, and types of work. Students were encouraged to understand that they do not have to know exactly what career they want at this stage. Instead, the purpose of career exploration is to help them discover their interests, strengths, and possible career paths. Career Coach Kenika Hudson. bolivar schools
