Did you know our main source of income is Fire tag sales and donations/fundraisers?!?
All property owners,
We would like to inform you of a change in how we are identifying and tracking fire (tag) association membership sales for 2026. We have contracted with Mapping Solutions GIS Services (the company Wayne County uses for its mapping services) to identify all parcel owners in our service area. 2026 marks the first year we have a complete and accurate list of parcel owners in our service area. This may explain why you are receiving correspondence from us for the first time. We will now track fire (tag) association sales and payments via this list. This letter and the accompanying fire (tag) association membership application will serve as your first opportunity to purchase a fire (tag) association membership. 2026 Fire Association Memberships are due June 1st, 2026. Association Membership for 2026 is $55.00.
Please remit payment for membership to WCVFPD #1, PO Box 349, Greenville, MO 63944. We will also
be available at Greenville FIRE/RESCUE Hse #1 (107 Sycamore St., Greenville, MO 63944) each Saturday morning in June from 8 to noon to sell memberships.
Important facts and Frequently asked questions:
Most homeowners and property insurance companies require membership in the fire protection association.
Property Owners with more than one occupied dwelling on the property must purchase additional fire tags for each occupied dwelling on the property.
Property owners who own property not in one continuous tract must purchase separate fire tags for each parcel not connected. (Property separated by state and county roads is considered continuous)
Commercial Property Owners will be assessed fire tag fees, based on target hazards, resource requirements, and the footprint of commercial buildings.
Non-members will be issued a response recovery fee authorized by Missouri Law RSMO #320.302 of a $100.00 response fee, and up to $500.00 per hour for onsite services. This recovery fee will apply to all calls for service in the Greenville FIRE/RESCUE (WCVFPD #1) service area. Responses will include, but are not limited to, structure fires, vehicle fires(including farm equipment), Brush/Wildland fires, Vehicle collisions, and other rescue-related calls for service.
You may opt out of the association response to your property by sending a letter to Fire Chief David Henderson at the above address, clearly stating you do not want the Wayne County Volunteer Fire Protection District #1 to respond to incidents on your property. Please note this letter does not exempt parcel owners from civil or criminal damages incurred on neighboring properties as described in RSMO 569.065, 537.380, and 537.400.
