Fun Fact Friday: Did you know walking to school is a healthy way to start the day? With school back in session, more kids are walking, biking, and riding the bus 🚌

Let’s all do our part: be extra alert during drop-off and pick-up, and slow down near schools and neighborhood streets. Together, we can help keep our students safe as they head back to class! 🚶‍♀️🚴‍♂️

🚧North Street Bridge Update🚧

The full road closure on North Street for the North Street Bridge Replacement Project will end by the start of the school year.

On August 28, North Street will reopen to traffic.

As construction continues, motorists should expect alternating one-way traffic and temporary traffic disruptions during the workday as needed for construction activities. Police and/or flaggers will direct traffic when necessary.

Please note: The bridge replacement project is not complete. Construction will continue, with an estimated project completion of Spring 2027❗

Please follow posted signage and directions from police or flaggers when traveling through the area.

Not everything belongs in the bin at Holly Hill Resource Recovery Facility. Household hazardous waste, prescription medicines, and commercial medical waste should be disposed of properly—not with your regular trash 🚮

Fun Fact Friday: Traffic safety is a shared responsibility.
🚗 Drivers: Slow down in school zones & residential areas.
👟 Pedestrians: Cross at marked crosswalks, make eye contact, and avoid distractions.

Did you know you can give your medical equipment a new purpose? ♻️

From wheelchairs to walkers, crutches to canes🩼If it’s gently used and in good condition, you can donate it at Holly Hill.

Through the Wheel It Forward program, these items go straight back to our neighbors who need them most, helping to reduce waste and support our community.

Drop-offs are simple! Look for the designated area by the Operations Field, next to the attendant’s shed. Learn more: https://www.greenwichct.gov/268/Recycling.

Fun Fact Friday: Do you know what RRFB stands for?🚸

It stands for Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon, those bright flashing lights you see at some marked crosswalks around Greenwich. They're designed to increase driver awareness and improve pedestrian safety.

Here's how they work:
🚶 Pedestrians: Press the button, wait for traffic to stop, and cross only when it's safe
🚗 Drivers: When the RRFB is flashing, be prepared to stop and yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk

With the school year just around the corner, it's a great time to refresh our knowledge and help keep Greenwich's roads safe for everyone.
