🌿📚We had an unbe-leaf-ably fun night kicking off Adult Summer Reading with Bingo, laughs, and all the good vines. Huge thanks to Frankie Cyanide for hosting and to our Adult Summer Reading Librarian, YinXia, for organizing such a plant-tastic event!

🌱💚With this year’s Summer Reading theme, Plant a Seed, Read!, Plant Bingo was the perfect kickoff.

🎭 A night to remember at Greenwich Library! In May, we welcomed our first Off-Broadway show, I Love You So Much I Could Die, presented by the Friends of Greenwich Library.

Part concert, part play, Mona Pirnot delivered a powerful and deeply personal solo performance exploring grief and the stories we tell to move through it. With a unique staging—her script voiced through text-to-speech while she remained turned away from the audience—paired with live music, the show created an intimate, unforgettable experience.

Directed by celebrated theatre artist Lucas Hnath and with musical accompaniment by Music Director Will Butler, formerly of Grammy Award winning band Arcade Fire, this moving performance left audiences captivated and reflective.

Thank you to everyone who attended, to Pirnot and Butler for the incredible performance, and to the Friends of Greenwich Library for another wonderful Performing Arts program at the Library.

The Byram Shubert and Cos Cob branches will have normal hours on Wednesday, May 27.

Visit our calendar to check the status of any programs. All items due on Wednesday are extended until Thursday, May 28. Library Chat and Ask a Librarian will be available on our website between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Access eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, movies, music, learning, and more direct to your phone or tablet with the Digital Library. 📢 Update: Main Library Closures
Greenwich Library (Main Library only) will close early at 4PM today, Thursday, May 21, and will remain closed on Friday, May 22 due to a maintenance issue. We’ll keep you posted on reopening updates.

The Byram Shubert and Cos Cob branches will operate with normal hours on Friday, May 22.

Reminder: All Greenwich Library locations will be closed as scheduled for Memorial Day weekend.

👀 Where’s Waldo? Apparently all over Greenwich Library! Turns out Waldo wanted to explore the Library as much as possible before we close for Memorial Day Weekend. Can you spy all of the hiding spots?

Plus, enjoy these Waldo (or Wally?) fun facts:

📖 The first Where’s Wally? book was published on June 25, 1987, in the UK but was later introduced in the U.S. as Where’s Waldo?

👩 Wilma, Wally’s original girlfriend, was later replaced by her identical twin, Wenda.

🎬 Waldo has appeared in TV series, films, video games, cereal boxes, and weekly comic strips.

🌍 The Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of Waldos is 4,626 people, set in Japan on October 8, 2017.

📚 You can find multiple copies of 7 different Where’s Waldo? books available to check out at the Libraries in town!

🎏 We celebrated Kodomo no Hi (Children’s Day) on the Children’s Floor at Greenwich Library on May 5! This meaningful Japanese holiday honors children’s personalities, celebrates their happiness, and wishes them health and strength.

🇯🇵 Inspired by the day, festive touches were added to the Library’s Children’s space, from colorful carp streamers (koinobori) to a samurai doll display (gogatsu ningyō), symbolizing protection against sickness and evil, and encouraging resilience and success in life.

💛 Thank you to our staff for sharing this celebration of childhood with everyone at the Library!
