⚠️ STORM UPDATE & WEATHER ALERT: GREENWICH ⚠️
Last night's storm impacted several Fairfield County communities. A big thank you to our town departments, tree crews, emergency services, dispatch center, and volunteer patrol and fire companies who worked through the night to clear debris, protect blocked roads, and assist with power restoration!
Work continues today as we expect another hot day and potential severe weather later this afternoon..
Current Situation:
☀️ WEATHER: High humidity and temperatures today will push heat indices into the upper 90s. Scattered severe thunderstorms are possible today, mainly after 2:00 PM and into tonight. Strongest storms may bring heavy rain, flash flooding, and damaging winds.
🚧 ROAD CLOSURES & INFRASTRUCTURE180 Bible Street: Remains closed.232 Byram Shore Road: Closed. A utility restoration crew is currently en route. 12 Prospect Drive remains closed. Additional Eversource crews are headed to Greenwich to assist. Opening blocked roads is the priority.
⚡ POWER OUTAGES & UTILITY STATUS:
Current Outages: Greenwich currently has 1,072 customers without power across 17 separate utility incidents. A new incident on Cat Rock Road impacts 675 customers, making up the majority of the town's outages, followed closely by the Bible Street area.
Restoration: Eversource crews worked through the night across Fairfield County, and municipal/utility teams will continue working throughout the day.
🚨 SAFETY REMINDERS: Treat all downed wires as live and dangerous. Stay far away and report them immediately. Do not drive through barricaded roads.
