Hot and humid conditions are expected through at least Saturday and Greenwich may experience strong thunderstorms on Friday and through the weekend. There is the potential for flash flooding and damaging wind gusts.
The prolonged heat does increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for older adults, young children, individuals with chronic medical conditions, and those working or spending extended periods outdoors. Please limit your exposure to the outdoors during these times of high heat and make sure and check on vulnerable loved ones.
There is a possibility of slow-moving thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rainfall on Friday afternoon, with rainfall rates exceeding two inches per hour. This can potentially lead to isolated to scattered flash flooding, especially in urban areas, locations with poor drainage, low-lying areas and along small rivers, streams, and creeks.
