🚔📈 GREENWOOD PD: MAY 2026 RECAP 📈🚔

A few people on Facebook are absolutely convinced Greenwood Police spends every waking moment hiding behind bushes waiting to write speeding tickets.

So let's check the scoreboard.

During the month of May, Greenwood Police Officers:

📞 Answered **846 calls for service**
🚓 Conducted **210 traffic stops**
📝 Issued **107 citations**
⚖️ Documented **138 traffic violations**
👮 Made **21 misdemeanor arrests**
🔒 Made **2 felony arrests**
💥 Investigated **16 minor crashes**
🚑 Investigated **3 major injury crashes**
🏃 Investigated **5 hit-and-run crashes**

Now let's put that into perspective.

There are 31 days in May.

That means Greenwood officers answered an average of **27 calls every single day.**

Every day.

Rain.
Heat.
Thunderstorms.
Mosquitoes.
That one citizen who starts every conversation with, "Now I know my rights..."

Every. Single. Day.

Those 846 calls included crashes, disturbances, suspicious persons, thefts, medical assists, welfare checks, traffic complaints, domestics, alarms, stranded motorists, and approximately 73 situations that could have been solved if people simply minded their own business.

Meanwhile...

210 traffic stops means at least 210 drivers had the exact same thought:

👀 "Is he pulling out?"

And then immediately checked every warning light on their dashboard.

The 21 misdemeanor arrests and 2 felony arrests remind us that while most people spent May planning summer vacations, a few individuals chose the exciting alternative package known as "The Criminal Justice System Experience."

As for the 5 hit-and-run investigations...

We'd like to thank everyone involved for volunteering additional paperwork.

Our officers greatly appreciate your contribution.

In all seriousness, these numbers represent a lot of hard work by a small department committed to keeping Greenwood safe.

They represent officers missing meals, staying late on calls, working crashes in the rain, helping people on some of the worst days of their lives, and showing up every day ready to serve this community.

To the citizens who support us, wave at us, pray for us, and occasionally bring us snacks:

You are the real MVPs.

To the people who just remembered their vehicle inspection sticker expired in 2024 after reading this post:

Good luck.

🚔❤️ Greenwood is worth protecting, and we're proud to do it.

Some residents have contacted the police department about a scammed calling representing Greenwood's Tax Office. The company is not used by Greenwood and we don't have anyone named Rachel in Greenwood Town Hall. It is a scammer calling.

driver dropped the children off at one of the children's residence. At this time, there does not seem to be any criminal charges, but if you saw anything on East Starwood or have video of the vehicle, person or incident please notify Sgt. Anderson at [email protected]

🚨 TODAY’S THE DAY, GREENWOOD 🚨

The “Shining & Groovy” Blood Drive is happening TODAY at the Greenwood Police Department from 1pm-5pm! 🩸✌️🌼

That’s right…
for one afternoon you can:
✔️ save lives
✔️ get a groovy t-shirt
✔️ eat snacks
✔️ feel like a superhero
✔️ and walk into the police department voluntarily without us asking questions 😂

We’ve already heard every excuse imaginable this morning:

❌ “I’m scared of needles.”
❌ “I already gave blood to mosquitoes this week.”
❌ “My blood type is Dr Pepper.”
❌ “I would donate but I’m spiritually dehydrated.”

Nice try.

Meanwhile, somebody out there is counting on blood donations to survive. One donation can help multiple people, and that’s a pretty incredible thing.

So if you’re healthy and able, come see us today.

📍 Greenwood Police Department
📍 9381 Greenwood Rd
⏰ 1pm-5pm

And yes…
before somebody asks again:
NO, donating blood does NOT count as community service if you got warrants. 😎

🚔🩸 OFFICIAL GREENWOOD PD NOTICE 🩸🚔

Some of y’all see a police department and immediately get nervous.

Relax.

For ONE afternoon, we actually WANT you to stop by voluntarily. 😂

The Greenwood Police Department will host a LifeShare blood drive Friday, May 22nd from 1pm-5pm at the department.

Every donation can help save multiple lives, and honestly that’s a pretty good trade for:
✔️ a free t-shirt
✔️ free snacks
✔️ getting to tell people you were basically a superhero this weekend

And before somebody asks:
No, we cannot “top off” the patrol cars with donated blood because gas prices are high.

Come out and support a great cause. We’d love to see the community there.

Around 4:00 a.m. this morning, while on patrol near Adesa Auto Auction on U.S. Highway 80, Officer Kay noticed an orange glow in the sky to the south. He and Sgt. Fertenbaugh immediately responded to the area near W. 70th Street and Splash Kingdom Waterpark, where they discovered a business on fire.

Because the business is located within the City of Shreveport, Greenwood officers quickly notified the appropriate Shreveport authorities to respond. Officer Kay’s alert observation and the quick actions of the night shift helped prevent the fire from spreading further.

Great job by our night shift officers!

🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE “I CAN SCAM THE SCAMMER” CROWD 🚨

Every time these fake DMV texts go out, we inevitably get at least one person who says:

“I started messing with them back.”
“I gave them fake information.”
“I told them to meet me in Greenwood.”
“I’m wasting THEIR time.”

Respectfully…
you are not operating a covert cyber sting operation from your recliner while eating Pringles. 😂

These scammers are not sitting in a van behind the Dollar General waiting for you to challenge them to a duel. Most of them are overseas running thousands of scam messages at once hoping somebody panics and clicks the link.

And yes… the message threatening your immediate arrest unless you pay with Apple gift cards is fake.

The real DMV does not:
❌ text you random links
❌ demand payment immediately
❌ threaten jail over text message
❌ use “kindly” 14 times in one paragraph
❌ send messages that look like they were translated by a potato

If you get one:
DELETE IT.
Do not click anything.
Do not respond.
Do not give them information.
Do not attempt to become Batman of the Internet Crimes Division.

The safest thing you can do is ignore it completely and verify any issue directly through the real agency.

Stay safe, Greenwood.
And remember:
Common sense is still the best spam filter.
