🚔📈 GREENWOOD PD: MAY 2026 RECAP 📈🚔
A few people on Facebook are absolutely convinced Greenwood Police spends every waking moment hiding behind bushes waiting to write speeding tickets.
So let's check the scoreboard.
During the month of May, Greenwood Police Officers:
📞 Answered **846 calls for service**
🚓 Conducted **210 traffic stops**
📝 Issued **107 citations**
⚖️ Documented **138 traffic violations**
👮 Made **21 misdemeanor arrests**
🔒 Made **2 felony arrests**
💥 Investigated **16 minor crashes**
🚑 Investigated **3 major injury crashes**
🏃 Investigated **5 hit-and-run crashes**
Now let's put that into perspective.
There are 31 days in May.
That means Greenwood officers answered an average of **27 calls every single day.**
Every day.
Rain.
Heat.
Thunderstorms.
Mosquitoes.
That one citizen who starts every conversation with, "Now I know my rights..."
Every. Single. Day.
Those 846 calls included crashes, disturbances, suspicious persons, thefts, medical assists, welfare checks, traffic complaints, domestics, alarms, stranded motorists, and approximately 73 situations that could have been solved if people simply minded their own business.
Meanwhile...
210 traffic stops means at least 210 drivers had the exact same thought:
👀 "Is he pulling out?"
And then immediately checked every warning light on their dashboard.
The 21 misdemeanor arrests and 2 felony arrests remind us that while most people spent May planning summer vacations, a few individuals chose the exciting alternative package known as "The Criminal Justice System Experience."
As for the 5 hit-and-run investigations...
We'd like to thank everyone involved for volunteering additional paperwork.
Our officers greatly appreciate your contribution.
In all seriousness, these numbers represent a lot of hard work by a small department committed to keeping Greenwood safe.
They represent officers missing meals, staying late on calls, working crashes in the rain, helping people on some of the worst days of their lives, and showing up every day ready to serve this community.
To the citizens who support us, wave at us, pray for us, and occasionally bring us snacks:
You are the real MVPs.
To the people who just remembered their vehicle inspection sticker expired in 2024 after reading this post:
Good luck.
🚔❤️ Greenwood is worth protecting, and we're proud to do it.
