Greenwood CPW electric customers in the uptown area, surrounding neighborhoods, Montague Avenue corridor, and Bypass area from Grace Street to Hwy 225 S may experience a brief power outage around 5:30 AM on Thursday morning, June 4th. The outage is expected to last approximately 2 to 5 minutes.

If your power remains out for more than 10 minutes, please report it to our customer service line at 864-942-8100.

This temporary interruption is part of scheduled maintenance and upgrades to one of our substations. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve service reliability.

Are you a college student in the engineering or GIS field looking for a summer job? If so, we have a great opportunity for you!

Greenwood CPW is seeking an Engineering or GIS student for a summer internship (paid) to support the utilities Engineering Department. Intern will be responsible for assisting with engineering related duties, such as GIS/GPS, construction administration support, design services support, field visits, administrative work, etc.

Greenwood CPW provides Water, Electric, and Natural Gas services to the residents in and around Greenwood, SC. Intern will have the opportunity to gain exposure to these three operational departments, including field visits to the Water Treatment Facility and construction sites. Intern will also have the opportunity to attend training seminars as they become available.

Current enrollment in an accredited Engineering program is preferred. Intern must manage their own transportation to and from office. Office hours are from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 7:30-11:30 Friday.

Greenwood CPW is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Customer Payments Coordinator.

The Customer Payments Coordinator must possess a strong understanding of customer service, cash handling, and clerical operations within a public utility or customer focused environment. The position requires knowledge of office procedures, basic bookkeeping, and the use of modern office equipment and computer systems. Familiarity with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations related to customer accounts and billing is essential.

Successful candidates demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational abilities, and attention to detail. The role requires the ability to exercise sound judgment and independent decision making while performing both routine and non routine tasks. Employees must be able to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and perform accurately despite frequent interruptions.

The position requires patience, empathy, professionalism, and the ability to resolve conflicts and de escalate challenging customer situations. Candidates must be emotionally resilient and capable of remaining calm and courteous when working under stress or handling difficult interactions. The ability to learn new procedures, adapt to changing priorities, and perform duties with integrity and in the best interest of the public is essential.

Congratulations to Jeff Ek, Water Department, for being selected as the Catch Them Doing Something Right award winner for February! Jeff is proactive in his daily duties and is a tremendous asset to the Greenwood CPW Water Department. Jeff's dedication is evident daily and his strong work ethic and ability to effectively teach and lead new water employees is greatly appreciated! Great job, Jeff!
