Are you a teen with a passion for storytelling? Whether you’re drafting your first novel, building a fantasy world, or just love writing fan fiction, the Teen Writers Group is your creative home.

Join a supportive community of teen writers ages 13 to 18 who meet regularly to:

• Share works in progress
• Give and receive constructive feedback
• Tackle writing prompts and challenges
• Learn about plotting, character development, worldbuilding, and more

Bring a notebook, your favorite writing device, or just your ideas. No pressure, just a fun and encouraging space to grow as a writer!

CHICK-FIL-A STORYTIME IS TODAY! 🐮

The Children’s Room Librarians will be at the new Chick-fil-A for Storytime today, Tuesday, September 1, at 10:30 a.m.

Registration is now open for September’s Fiction Addiction Book Club

Join us for an evening of good company and literature at the Library.

Date: Monday, September 28, 2026
Time: 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Location: American Veterans Auditorium
Ages: 18 and older

This month’s book: The Names by Florence Knapp

This literary and historical novel explores how a single decision can alter a family’s destiny.

Set in 1987, the story follows Cora as she escapes her abusive, controlling husband, Gordon, to register her newborn son’s birth. The novel then follows three alternate 35-year timelines based on the name she chooses: Gordon, Julian, or Bear.

Today, we join so many others in mourning the loss of Dolly Parton, a true champion of children, books, and literacy.

Through her Imagination Library, Dolly put books into the hands of millions of children, inspiring them to dream, learn, and imagine. Here at the Greenwood County Library, we have seen that impact firsthand. The Imagination Library has been a tremendous blessing to the children and families of Greenwood County.

We will miss Dolly deeply, but we are grateful for the incredible legacy she leaves behind, a love of reading and a belief in the limitless potential of every child.

Thank you, Dolly, for helping put books in the hands of children and dreams in their hearts. ❤️📚

Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.

Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).

A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.

At Dolly’s request, a small, private service will be held for immediate family. Dolly’s fans and friends from around the world are encouraged to pay tribute to Dolly on social media by tagging or by leaving a message at www.dollyparton.com

A big thank-you to Greenwood County Maintenance for patching our AC system at the Greenwood Main Library while we wait for the ordered parts to arrive. We truly appreciate your quick response and help in keeping our library comfortable and accessible to our community!

📚 The Greenwood Main Library will resume regular hours today.

❗Please note that if the AC goes out again, we will need to return to closing early until the necessary parts and repairs are completed.
