π A Time-Honored Tradition Continues!
Today, we celebrated the Push-In Ceremony for Engine 51, joined by Chaplain Dustin Hite, Fire Chief Jeremy Pell, Captain Casey Arkins, and many crews and employees of White River Township Fire Department.
The βpush-inβ ceremony is a deeply rooted fire service tradition that honors our history and the generations of firefighters who came before us. In the days of hand carts and horse-drawn engines, firefighters would un-hitch their horses and push their equipment back into the station after every call β making sure they were always ready for the next one.
While much has changed, this tradition continues as a symbol of teamwork, dedication, and readiness to serve our community. Many departments, including ours, also celebrate with a βwet downβ β wetting the new engine with tank water from the one it replaces β a symbolic passing of service from one rig to the next.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made today possible. β€οΈ
With pride and tradition, we officially welcome Engine 51 home β ready to serve the citizens of White River Township.
