Just a friendly reminder that the middle of winter and summer are high-risk periods for fires. The past two days we’ve had one in district call and two assists. With the nice weather we've had and will have, please get out and enjoy it, but be mindful that the grass is dead and can spread quickly with little wind, even though the ground may be wet.

We have a couple more days before we potentially get some small relief. Keep in mind at this level flicking ci******es or even just the ashes on the ground could cause a fire. Please be mindful when working outdoors with things like welders, grinders and torches. Wet the area your working in to try and prevent spark ups. Any vehicles with low exhaust can also set grass on fire so please be aware of where you park your vehicles.

As of yesterday afternoon, Sebastian County is under a burn ban due to dry and hazardous conditions.
