We have 3 more slots remaining for our Junior Fire Academy that starts Monday, June 15, 2026. If there are any high school graduating seniors or upcoming seniors, submit your summary asap. We will go with the first 3 to submit. It will be a lot of fun receiving an inside look at our fire department from the inside out. We're looking forward to working with the young men and ladies.

The National Weather Service has issued a risk for flash flooding on Tuesday (5/26/26) across Mississippi.

Areas of Mississippi could see:
🌧️2-3" of rain in less than 3 hours
🌊Areas of flash flooding
🛣️Roads may be flooded or closed
🏡Some structures could be threatened with inundation
🌊Minor river flooding is expected

❌Know where to go in case you need to evacuate
🚧Identify alternate routes to your destinations in case of flooded roads

This is the final week to apply for the Greenwood Fire Department Junior Fire Academy! High school juniors and seniors (classes of 2026 and 2027) have until May 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM to submit their applications. This program offers a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at fire service life, covering fire operations, leadership, and essential life skills like financial literacy.
