St. Pierre, President of St. Pierre Family Funeral and Cremation Services, will provide "exciting news" and an update on the planned Veterans Memorial Park at the Monday, July 13, Noon to 1:00 pm meeting of the Rotary Club of Greenwood. The veterans park was the dream of former Greenwood Rotarian and community leader Mr. Paul Totten, who passed away in 2018. He received a Testimonial Award and the Philippine Liberation Medal from the Republic of the Philippines. A park in the Philippine Islands was named after him. Mr. Totten spent four months in a Japanese prisoner of war camp after he and 17 other soldiers were captured on a secret mission. He and his fellow soldiers were freed less than a year before the end of the war.

The park will be located north of the Greenwood Fieldhouse on Surina Way west of Meridian Street in Greenwood. The Greenwood Community Development Corporation granted permission earlier this year to move forward on construction of the memorial.
