Progress is happening

This morning, Jones Cornerstone Contracting has started the curb and gutter tear out process on Aspen Drive. This is the first component to the 2026 Mill and Overlay program. After completing work on Aspen Drive, the contractor will move onto Birch Drive. Please exercise patience and caution with workers using heavy equipment in the roadway if you are driving on Aspen Drive today. We look forward to providing more updates as the project progresses into mid-September.

UPDATE- Quick dry has been placed on the road. It is now open for normal traffic.
20th Ave is closed northbound at Main. A truck with a hydraulic leak caused the road to become slick for anyone attempting to turn into main. Crews are actively working to clean it up. We will reopen as soon as possible. Please avoid the area.

The Greenwood Police Dept installed a radar data device on 20th ave to gather information related to driver’s speed. Below is a breakdown of the findings.

From 7/14/2026 - 7/22/2026
16,398 Cars passed the device
Average speed was 27MPH
3% of the vehicle were traveling above "Excessive Speed", (Excessive Speed) is the threshold that a citation would be warranted.
The data collected identified days of the week and peak times that speeders are being seen. Officers have been given this information and will be conducting radar enforcement during these times to identify and take corrective action on the 3% that choose to violate our speed limits in our neighborhoods.

We will be deploying this device at several other areas in the city to help us focus our efforts in having safe streets.

Recently, this department posted a photo of a suspect and asked the public to help identify this person. It was shocking and disappointing to see the racist comments made by some and the ignorant comments made by others. In the interest of transparency, we have opted to allow comments on our posts but if the racist comments continues, we will shut down all comments. There may be other pages that this behavior may be tolerated but it will not be tolerated here.

Last time we asked for help identifying a suspect, you all came through in less than 20 minutes. Let’s see if lightning strikes twice.

This woman was in town with two friends (who have already been identified) they apparently decided that shopping is a lot more affordable when you skip the checkout line.

If you recognize the woman in the photo, please send us a private message or contact the Greenwood Police Department. As always, please do not post names in the comments.
We’d rather get accurate information than guesses.

Thank you for continuing to help keep our community safe!

P.S. We’d really like to reunite her with the receipt she forgot to pick up.
