City Council recently took a hard hat tour of Greer Sports & Events Center site, and now, we’re giving you a glimpse of what they saw behind the scenes.

Harper General Contractors provided an update on the construction timeline before the group set out to see how the plans McMillan Pazdan Smith designed are coming to life.

Many council members hadn’t been on the property since the groundbreaking last August. The 200,000-square-foot structure has really started to take shape in recent months. It’s much easier to envision what nine basketball courts, a wrestling room, and event rental space will look like now that pre-cast walls are in place and structural steel is going up.

Construction is on track for a Spring 2027 opening.

A company that’s been in the Upstate for 100 years is part of the team bringing the City of Greer’s new Sports & Events Center to life.

Metromont Corporation manufactured more than 200 exterior wall panels at a facility in Greenville County. Some of the panels are 30 to 40 feet tall and contain layers of materials including concrete, brick, steel, and insulation. The team then transported the wall panels to the site off Highway 14 and put them in place with a large crane.

🏀 Heading to Greenville to catch some college hoops this weekend? Keep your eyes peeled for a "sign" of what's coming to Greer in 2027.

👀 Pepsi of Greenville has included some big news for Greer on the digital billboard outside "The Well." The city is partnering with the beverage company to keep athletes and fans well hydrated at our new Sports & Events Center coming to Highway 14.

🏀 🏐 ⛹️‍♀️ 🤼‍♀️ The 200,000 square foot facility will host more than just basketball when it opens early next year. Providing a little something for everyone is a slam dunk in our book!

🥤Did you know Pepsico makes more than just soft drinks? The beverage company also produces Gatorade, Aquafina bottled water, Propel Fitness Water, and a bunch of other brands you probably know.

The City of Greer, SC - Government’s new Sports & Events Center is on track to open in 2027, and getting to the finish line requires many different teams working together and pushing toward the same goal.

Harper General Contractors is responsible for bringing the 200,000 square foot facility to life.

The City of Greer’s new Sports & Events Center is an investment for the community by the community.

One of the companies that has worked alongside Harper General Contractors on the site off Highway 14 and S. Buncombe Road is RCS Grading, Inc..

RCS is a Greer-based company whose mission is to move dirt and grow people. RCS helped get the 26-acre site ready for the work that’s happening now. The vice president of operations for RCS showed us why his company is excited to be part of this project.

The City of Greer’s new Sports & Events Center is going to be a gathering place for the community by the community. Many of the companies working alongside Harper General Contractors to build the facility are based right here in the Upstate.

Crenshaw Erosion Control is a female-owned business that’s playing a critical role in the early phases of construction. Managing erosion and water runoff is important for site safety and keeping the project on schedule.

Contractors have made big strides on two of the ForGreer projects in the past few months. A large crane has been on the site of the Sports & Events Center helping workers put up forms for cast-in-place concrete walls.

At the Public Safety Training Center site, crews have been putting up drywall in the main building and installing fire tile and brick on the burn tower.

Last week, city council was given a behind-the-scenes look at the future Public Safety Training Center. The first ForGreer project to break ground, this facility will feature a 50-yard shooting range, a fire training tower, and several breakout rooms to provide training opportunities for first responders.

Construction crews have made substantial progress in the 7 months since the groundbreaking, with an expected opening date set for spring of 2026.

Another ForGreer project is well underway, and this week we celebrated the momentum with a ceremonial groundbreaking of the city's new Sports & Events Center.

The Greer Sports & Events Center will allow for the growth of existing programming while providing the resources needed to introduce new opportunities to the community as well.

While this state-of-the-art facility will host travel teams and boost local revenue through sports tourism, the center’s primary purpose will always be to serve the heartbeat of Greer - our community.
