Wastewater infrastructure in the City of Greer is set for a major upgrade.

The South Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) recently awarded Greer CPW a $10 million grant to support improvements at the Maple Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. The total cost of the project is $13.2 million. CPW will use capital improvement funds to pay for what the grant doesn’t cover.

The upgrades will allow the plant to treat up to 7.5 million gallons per day with greater efficiency and lower energy costs. Greer CPW customers will not experience service disruptions during the project, which should be complete by the end of 2026.

Ample parking is a critical component of a vibrant downtown, and the City of Greer wants to make sure it has the right infrastructure to encourage folks to visit Greer Station.

The city hired Walker Consultants, experts in parking and mobility, to take a look at the parking in and around downtown. They've set up an online survey for people to share their thoughts. The deadline to complete the survey is December 1.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Zentrum museum Tuesday night to celebrate BMW USA’s 30th anniversary in South Carolina.

President and CEO, Robert Engelhorn, said BMW chose Spartanburg County because of its location and the resilience, talent, and spirit of the people here.

The first BMW to roll off the line, a 318i signed by plant associates in 1994, took center stage at the celebration. 150 of those employees still work at the plant 30 years later. Engelhorn said Plant Spartanburg is not just a factory. It’s a family.
