PUBLIC SAFETY IN GRESHAM IS AT RISK – WE NEED YOUR VOICE!

Multnomah County Budget Hearing
🔥 What’s at Stake?
Multnomah County is proposing deep cuts to the District Attorney’s Office — a move that threatens public safety throughout the county and especially in Gresham and east Multnomah County.
The DA’s office is already overloaded and underfunded. These proposed budget reductions will mean:
Fewer prosecutions for serious and repeat crimes
Delays in justice for victims and families
Reduced capacity to handle gun violence, drug offenses, domestic violence, and retail theft
Increased burden on local police and residents
💡 Gresham Voters Just Sent a Clear Message
Last year, Gresham residents overwhelmingly passed the city’s first public safety levy in over 32 years — showing just how important safety and law enforcement are to our community.
Now the County’s proposed budget works against us by stripping resources from the very justice system we rely on. Our residents chose to tax themselves to support police and emergency services — and the County should match that commitment, not undermine it.
🧾 Meanwhile… Misplaced Spending Priorities
While proposing these dangerous public safety cuts, the County plans to spend over $10 million to build yet another shelter in Gresham — despite the fact that we already host more shelters than any other east county city.
Instead of investing in:
✅ Prosecutors
✅ Gun violence intervention
✅ Victim advocacy
✅ Domestic violence and felony case prosecution
… the County is prioritizing a project Gresham doesn’t need and didn’t ask for.
🗣️ Join Us to Demand:
🔒 Full funding for the District Attorney’s Office
🚔 Real support for public safety in Gresham
🚫 No more shelter expansion when our streets are already overwhelmed
📣 A budget that respects and reflects the values of Gresham residents
✅ SHOW UP. STAND UP. SPEAK OUT.
If you care about crime, justice, and protecting our community, we need you at this meeting.
Let’s send a clear message: Public safety is not optional. Fund the DA.
