Tool Library Alliance FTW! We're building community, locally and globally.

Our online friend Darren from The Tool Library in Buffalo, NY made a visit to Portland this week. He helped out with our pop-up art show and met a lively cast of neighbors. Thanks for your help, Darren!

Last week, one of our board members made a stop in Asheville, NC and helped during their 10th anniversary. "It was fun and a solid recharge of my social battery on a long solo trip."

Once you start helping at a tool library, you recognize how good it feels to empower others. You're always welcome as part of the community. Join us. Guaranteed, you won't regret it!

Today, we're saying farewell to our friends and neighbors at Flavours of India as they close for personal reasons. Flavours of India FlavoursOfIndiaSandy.us Francis, Sandra, and their chefs have been cooking up delicious, authentic Indian cuisine and building community for six years at Rockwood Market Hall, hosting fundraisers and community events along the way.

Business owners like Francis and Sandra make a major difference in East Multnomah County and Gresham, supporting their staff with fair wages and providing healthy, fresh meals to their customers at a reasonable price—all while contributing resources to local programs and service providers. They have used their platform to raise awareness about programs like our tool library and events hosted by the city and local nonprofits. Flavours of India has been essential to the Rockwood Market Hall lineup, making this open-air community food hall into a destination for East County. Sandra has also participated actively as a volunteer at the Gresham Senior Center and participated in Chamber of Commerce meetings and events, in all of her "free time"!

We will miss your friendship, your partnership, and your incredible food! But we know you will do amazing things in the next step of your journey. Bon voyage!

We met Leatherman himself—Tim Leatherman—at Powell's Books tonight. From the literal scrap yard to Saigon, Europe, and the Artic in search of the perfect pocket repair kit, Tim Leatherman built an entirely new class of tool. He expanded his idea into a $300M+ company right here in Portland, with quality construction and repair warranties that last, creating over 500 high-quality craftsman jobs. Thanks, Tim, for making the world a lot more capable!!

We actually do lend a couple of leatherman tools, if you are planning a backpacking trip. We'll have to add helicopter repair to possible uses after tonight's presentation.

Tim's new book is also being added to our lending library, if you're looking for inspiration.

It's !!! Grab a pen and a pad, and join us this afternoon to draw, sketch, stitch, and darn. This month is all about ART, however you make it.

1:00–3:00 pm, we're opening up the classroom/studio for all ages. Markers and paper will be available for kids. (Crayola or cheaper, cause that's what we've got!)

Take care of your neighbors by trimming sidewalk foliage, ensuring traffic signs are visible, and removing low hanging branches in pedestrian and vehicle pathways. (12 ft clearance over roads, 8ft clearance over sidewalks.) Borrow a hedge trimmer, string trimmer, loppers, shears, edgers, extension saw, pole saw, or limb saw this Saturday!

Sidewalk repair? It's pretty professional stuff, but we have all the tools for the job! Borrow angle grinders, worm drive saws, a demolition hammer, wheelbarrow, digging bar, leveling rake. Don't forget the cement tools: trowels, floats, finishing tools, edgers, groovers, screeds and a darby!!

Contact the city for guidance.
