Gretna Fire & Rescue Proudly serving the Town of Gretna and Pittsylvania County, VA with emergency medical services and fire protection.

Dedicated to keeping our community safe — 24/7/365. Gretna Fire & Rescue was formed in 2019 when the Gretna Volunteer Fire Dept. (est. 1935) and Gretna Rescue Squad (est. 1968) merged to form one agency to better serve the citizens of the Town of Gretna and Pittsylvania County. Our department covers 107 sq miles for first due Fire response and 203 sq miles for first due EMS response. With such a l

arge response area, GFR consistently maintains the top spot as the busiest Fire/EMS Agency in Pittsylvania County, all while maintaining 99% call coverage for EMS and 100% call coverage for Fire related responses.

We are looking for vendors to join us for our 5th Annual Community Day on July 18th from 11 AM – 3 PM!

This is our FIRST year opening the event up to vendors, and we would love to showcase local businesses, crafters, boutiques, food vendors, and more!

🛍 Vendor spots: $50
📍 Outdoor setup in front of our building
⛺ We recommend bringing a tent/canopy for shade

This event will also feature lots of fun activities for kids and families throughout the day, making it a great opportunity to get your business in front of the community! Flyer will be posted soon.

At our 1st Annual Pocketbook Bingo we had some amazing sponsors that donated flowers to the event. We had Steve’s Flowers in Altavista, M&W Florist in Chatham and Fig & Fern in Dry Fork donate beautiful bouquets for our center pieces.

We were able to take some of the bouquets to the ladies at Gretna Health & Rehab to enjoy. 🌹🌸💐🌷

Bluegrass & Bbq?! 🪕 Sounds like a good time to me. Mark your calendars for our Dine In BBQ Fundraiser June 13th from 5-7 PM, featuring “The WhiteOak Ramblers” bluegrass band! 🎶

$15 per meal, which includes Ben’s Famous Smoked BBQ, Coleslaw, Baked Beans, Corn, Dinner Roll, and Homemade Desserts.

💥We are accepting pre-orders for BBQ, at $12 per pound. This is to be picked up day of event between the hours of 5-7 PM. To pre order please scan the QR and fill out the form OR call the station at 434-656-2621.
Deadline to pre-order bbq is June 5th. 💥

GFR hosted our first ever Pocketbook Bingo tonight, and it was a huge success! 👜🤩🩷

We had so many people attend, so many amazing prizes, and good food! 🧁🍓 A special thank you to Star Holley who organized this event and for all of our members who took their time to help. An extra special thank you to our firefighter, Nate Motley who modeled all of our purses! 🕺
