Gretna Community Foundation

In 2011, Gretna Community Foundation Fund (GCFF) became an affiliate of the Midlands Community Foundation.

The Gretna Community Foundation is a nonprofit community organization created by and for the people of the greater Gretna area to make a positive impact on their community. The Gretna Community Foundation Fund is under the 501(c)3 umbrella of Midlands Community Foundation allowing GCFF’s to be professionally managed while “building a foundation for our future.”

We offer four basic types of funds

Field of Interest Funds
Donor Advised Funds
General Funds

✨ Celebrating Impact in Gretna ✨

In January, the Gretna Community Foundation proudly awarded over $29,000 to local organizations during our 2025 Grant Cycle, our largest annual giving to date.

These incredible recipients are making a meaningful difference right here in our community:

• Region V Foundation dba Apace Foundation
• Dreamweaver Foundation
• Gretna Friends of the Library
• Gretna Public Library Foundation
• Gretna Neighbors Food Pantry
• Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy Inc
• Spirit Horse Ranch Inc
• YMCA of Greater Omaha
• Omaha Youth for Christ

Together, these organizations are supporting families, expanding access to resources, and strengthening the Gretna community in meaningful ways.

Since 2016, the Gretna Community Foundation has awarded over $109,000 in grants, and we are honored to continue investing in programs and organizations that make a lasting impact.

💚 HONORING THE PAST. BUILDING THE FUTURE. 💚

For generations, Gretna’s community pool was more than a place to swim.
It was where friendships formed, summers stretched long, and memories were made.

Now we have the opportunity to create something new. A free, interactive Splash Pad in Old Town Gretna designed for all ages and abilities.

We are incredibly honored to share this:

✨ Randy Sump, a founding member of the Gretna Community Foundation has committed a $150,000 challenge match. ✨

Every dollar donated will be matched dollar for dollar up to $150,000.

Randy’s leadership and continued dedication to this foundation reflect what makes Gretna so special. People who believe in investing in the next generation while honoring the generations before us.

This project will create a new gathering space for families, kids, and neighbors. A place to connect, cool off, and build new memories for decades to come.

For Randy Sump, his memories of the Gretna pool at Peterson Park drove him to take action after the pool was demolished in 2025. Sump pledged to donate up to $150,000...

We're excited to announce a Gretna Community Complex Hoist Beam Signing on Wednesday, February 18th from 3:30pm-6:00pm in front of Gretna City Hall, 204 N McKenna Avenue.

Come sign your name on the hoist beam alongside those of your community neighbors! It will be placed in the elevator shaft - the heart of the building - as a lasting symbol of our community coming together.

The beam, will be available in front of City Hall, giving you and your family time to stop by and be part of this special moment.

The mayor will kick off the event with a few remarks at 3:30 pm.

We'll also have custom coloring sheets for kids to take home, color, and celebrate with!

• Community improvement projects

Thanks to the continued generosity of our donors, 2025 marks our largest grant year to date, allowing us to invest even more into the organizations serving Gretna.

From now through January 5, donations to Gretna Community Foundation may be matched through the Midland Community Foundation Charitable Match Program — meaning your gift can go even further.

💚 Because of your generosity in 2024, Gretna Community Foundation awarded over $17,000 in community grants, supporting organizations that serve Gretna residents, including:

• Gretna Neighbors Food Pantry
• Gretna Public Library programming
• YMCA of Greater Omaha youth education
• Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy
• Senior community music programs
• Youth volunteer training in Gretna schools
