We want to clarify some information regarding road construction and access to Vala's this week.

Schram Road between 186th Street to 189th Street will open to traffic Friday afternoon at 4 pm and provide access to local residents, businesses and visitors. Please note that this area will remain an active construction zone while the Contractor completes the project. For your safety and the works, please reduce speed and watch for construction workers. We appreciate the community's patience and cooperation throughout the construction process.

Heads up, Gretna! Gretna Fire will be conducting a live fire training exercise on Saturday, September 5, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at 9305 S 145th St.

Gretna Fire, along with area fire departments, will be participating in the exercise, which will include controlled live fire evolutions followed by a full-structure burn.

Training like this gives our firefighters the opportunity to sharpen their skills in a realistic environment while working alongside neighboring departments. These joint training opportunities help build stronger partnerships and ensure we are prepared to respond effectively together when called upon.

The building is located in a commercial area adjacent to Interstate 80 and Highway 50. Motorists in the area may see fire apparatus, personnel, smoke, and fire during the exercise. This is a planned and controlled training event.

Thank you to our community for your continued support as we train to keep Gretna and the surrounding communities safe.
