🚨Emergency traffic🚨

We are excited to announce that our department has been awarded a State Firefighter Grant totaling $31,519.86. This is a 50/50 matching grant, meaning the State of North Carolina provides half of the funding while our department contributes the remaining half.

Through this grant, we have been able to purchase three new positive pressure ventilation fans, and three of our members will be receiving new sets of turnout gear(unfortunately those members are still patiently awaiting their arrival).

To many, these may seem like small purchases, but in the fire service, equipment is extremely expensive. Every piece of equipment we use plays a vital role in keeping our firefighters safe and helping us provide the best possible service to our community.

The new fans will improve our ability to remove heat, smoke, and gases from structures, creating safer conditions for both firefighters and occupants. The new turnout gear will provide enhanced protection and ensure our members have reliable equipment when responding to emergencies.

We are grateful for programs like the State Firefighter Grant that help volunteer departments continue to improve their capabilities without placing the entire financial burden on local taxpayers and fundraising efforts.

Thank you for your continued support of our department. Your support helps make improvements like these possible and allows us to better serve our community.

💨Free Smoke Alarm Program for Grifton Residents 💨

We are excited to announce that the Grifton Fire Department has been awarded the Smoke Alarm Saturday / Smoke Alarm Canvassing Grant through the State of North Carolina.

This grant provides smoke alarms that our members will install FREE OF CHARGE in homes located WITHIN the GRIFTON CITY LIMITS. Working smoke alarms are one of the most important tools for protecting your family, providing early warning in the event of a fire and helping occupants escape safely.

If you live within the Grifton city limits and would like to request smoke alarms for your home, simply scan the QR code pictured below or click the link attached to this post to sign up.

Many fire deaths occur in homes without working smoke alarms. Through this grant, we hope to make our community safer by ensuring every home has the protection and peace of mind that working smoke alarms provide.

We encourage all residents to take advantage of this opportunity and help us spread the word to friends, family, and neighbors who may benefit from this program.

Together, we can make Grifton a safer place to live.

🚒 Monday Night Training 🚒

Last night, our members focused on hose advancement and hose handling skills. These fundamental firefighting techniques are critical to safely and effectively moving hoselines into a structure, navigating obstacles, and getting water to the seat of the fire.

Training included proper hose deployment, advancing charged hoselines, communication between crew members, and techniques for maintaining control of the line under different conditions.

Regular training like this helps ensure our firefighters remain prepared to protect lives and property when the call comes.

Thank you to all of our members who continue to dedicate their time and effort to sharpening their skills and serving our community.

🚒Monday Night training🚒

Last night, our members spent the evening training on drafting water from a portable (dump) tank. This skill is critical in areas where fire hydrants are not readily available and allows firefighters to establish a reliable water supply during emergency incidents.

Crews practiced setting up portable tanks, drafting operations, and maintaining a continuous water supply to support fire suppression efforts. Regular training like this helps ensure our members are prepared to respond safely and effectively when called upon.

Thank you to all of our members who dedicated their time to sharpening these important skills and serving our community.🧑‍🚒

Mark your calendars! 🗓️

Our wonderful secretary, Riley Kokinda, has spent time creating some flyers to hang in local businesses in and around town!

We want to get the word out that our next steak night will be on June 6th, a little over a month from today!

We would like everyone to know we have increased the amount of steaks and potato’s we purchased and hope to have another sell out!

Thank you Riley! And thank you Grifton! 🧑‍🚒🚒
