The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for our area due to gusty winds and low humidity, which can greatly increase the risk of fires starting and spreading quickly.

⏰ Until: 6:00 PM CST Friday, February 27, 2026
đź“Ť Affected Area: Portions of west-central Illinois including Pike County.

đźš« What This Means:
• Conditions could become favorable for rapid fire growth.
• Outdoor burning and open flame activities are strongly discouraged while this watch is in effect.

🔥 Please help keep our community safe:
âś” Avoid outdoor burning or recreational fires.
✔ Don’t discard ci******es or embers where they could ignite dry grass or debris.
âś” Stay alert and report any smoke or fire immediately by calling 911.

Tonight, the GP Lady Eagles take the court for REGIONALS, and the entire town is behind them! 💜🏀

If our girls bring home the WIN, the Griggsville Fire Department will proudly es**rt them into town with a victory lap—lights on, sirens rolling, celebration mode engaged! 🚒✨

So when you see the fire truck leading the bus, step outside, wave big, and show these athletes the love they’ve earned. They’ve worked hard, fought all season, and they deserve a hero’s welcome!
