🎉 Preschool is almost here! 🎉

The classrooms are getting ready, the finishing touches are coming together, and we cannot wait to welcome our youngest Tigers to Grinnell-Newburg Preschool! 🐯🧡🖤

There is something special about the beginning of a new school year — new friends, new experiences, lots of learning, and plenty of fun along the way.

We are excited to open the doors very soon and begin an incredible year with our preschool students and families.

🏗️🧡🖤 A little progress every day! 🖤🧡🏗️

If you’ve driven by the site of our new elementary school lately, you’ve probably noticed things are really starting to change!

Nick from Boyd Jones stopped for a few minutes today to give us an update (https://shorturl.at/yufZL) on what’s happening at the site and what we’ll be seeing next.

It’s fun to watch this project come out of the ground and begin to look more and more like the school we’ve been talking about and planning for. There’s a long way to go, but we’re making progress!

We’ll keep sharing updates like this throughout construction so everyone can follow along.

It is exciting to see the progress continuing at the site of our new elementary school. The latest drone footage gives us a great look at how much the site is beginning to take shape.

Work continues on foundations and footings throughout the building footprint, along with underground utility and electrical work. Crews are also preparing the north parking area and completing the site work necessary for the next major phases of construction.

Over the next several weeks, we should begin to see even more noticeable changes. Precast concrete work is underway, with installation currently scheduled to begin in early September. Boyd Jones is also working closely with the District and City to coordinate construction traffic, bus routes, and the delivery of the large precast panels as we move into that phase of the project.

There is still a great deal of work ahead, but it is exciting to watch the plans become something we can actually see taking shape for our students, staff, families, and community.

Thank you to Boyd Jones, CMBA Architects, our District team, the City of Grinnell, and everyone involved in keeping this project moving forward.

Construction continues to move forward on the new Grinnell-Newburg Elementary School. This latest update highlights progress with underground utilities, storm sewer installation, foundation excavation, concrete footings, and site preparation as the footprint of the new school takes shape.

It is exciting to see this project moving ahead and becoming more visible for our students, staff, and community.
